Maybe our blocks are shorter than yours:

The large building in the lower left corner is the Kroger supermarket. The red H-shaped building is my apartment building. (The little red car on the street in front of my building was my old car).

It's too close not to walk.
yeah but I'm shopping for 3 people @ $150-200 a pop. I cant lug all that shit home and I dont own a shopping cart.

I never heard anyone near Chicago refer to soda as "pop". I'm pretty sure it's an inbred southern hick thing, hth.

Like I'm going to believe that soda changes it's name to the less prestigious "pop" when one gets closer to the inner city.

Make smaller trips, more often. I'm so close that I'll just pop over for a few items. It's a fairly self-contained little area. Within that picture is my home, the supermarket, post office, convenience store, two pizza joints, chinese take-out, laundry, masonic lodge, liquor store, drug store, several salons, two bars...

cause i have tons of time for making numerous trips to the store throughout the work week. not to mention that I'd have to have my teh boy tag along for the trip to the store everytime i went. i think i walked there one time for a few items with him, and i didnt like it one bit. i dont like him near busy streets and stuff. a little paranoid yeah. i get anxious about it because when I was 7 I stood on the curb and watched my best friend get hit by a car and dragged down the street while we were crossing the very quiet residential street. and he died. so kids and traffic dont mix for me lol

There's a traffic light with crosswalks here, as can be seen in the picture. Maybe you should move to Hillcrest, we don't lose very many pedestrians here.

Everybody here says "POP", and then they look at me like I'm a fuckin alien when I tell them it's soda.
