Share your set up and explain it enough for guys like me who are just getting into them. Brands you have had success with or parts that failed.

I am Saving money for my first build right now and I'm focusing on the upper. My friend has been kind enough to lend me his lower while I save the rest of my money to purchase my own. Hopefully by the first week or so of July I will have my funds together.

I have had a few, don't own any atm. Rock River Arms has to have been my favorite of all of them for durability and accuracy out of box. Make sure you get good picatannie's on your upper - bull barrel unless you plan on carrying the shit around for extended distances. I used Trijicon optics, grip pods are convenient...you can do tons of shit man its really up to you there is a world of knowledge out there on the web.

Have a Smith and Wesson M15(5.56) w/ crimson trace laser/light pressure activated switch and EOTech holographic sight and foldable foregrip, quadrail, with tactical single point sling. Want to get a long bull barrel for long range, and maybe a 308 or 6.8,6.5 upper. Something I can just swap out with lower. Also have two AK47 Romanian one with tactical folding stock and rails and other reg.

AK > AR f.

That makes sense I mean the USA bein the best and most equipped army, navy, marine force in the world and our main fire power comes from the AK47. oh wait no it's every other third world country that uses that hunk of shit. It's cheap, reliable and tough as nails but very very inaccurate to say the least. About the only thing you can do is modify the stock. I think I'll go with the AR model over the AK.

LOLZ if you're gonna be fighting close quarters hit and run combat in a swamp then the AK is your weapon. If you wanna precise piece of machinery that can drive nails in the hands of marksman, then AR is your weapon. And as somebody said before, I think, with the number of accessories you can add to the AR, it trumps the AK in everyway. I have a Bushmaster A3 and a DPMS Panther Lite 16. Price and performance the DPMS trumps the Bushmaster.

you didn't say why you wanted it.

AKs are far more reliable in every facet than an AR. They are cheaper, ammunition is dirt cheap, and parts are far more easily obtained. If you want accuracy then go with an AK74. They are far more accurate than the 47 and all of the above still applies. It fires the 5.45x39mm, which is very similar to the AR's .223/5.56x45mm round (Both the Remington and NATO round are almost identical.)

At realistic distances you are going to be firing, the AK74 and AR15 are going to be almost the same in terms of accuracy. As with anything, you get what you pay for. You can buy a shitty WASR AK for a few hundred bucks, or go balls to the wall and get an Arsenal for over a grand. Same applies to AR's as there are definitely some shitty ones out there. If you are hell bent on going that route, Bushmaster is my recommendation.

KaDOOSH! bazooka? Damn man. Yea, I've shot several AK 47's and had fun but I liked my SKS more, the only draw back was the weight. That thing was heavy. I want an AR because of the accessories and options that come with them. I just thought it would be a fun thread to start about them. No offense to the AK 47 lovers out there.

Fuck Ak47 lovers
