I have a crapload of games on my hard drive, and my friend is getting a ps2... do I need a modchip, and action replay to make it work? Or does anyone know an easier way?

it needs a chip mod, i do not believe there is a hookup one, but i am also told you can mod it like the black ps1's thru a parallel/USB connection....

With PS1 I believe the only way to do it was with a mod chip so I imagine its the same with PS2, I'd like to know also.

with the ps1 there was the action replay which relied on the connection port in the back of the machine, it also used a spring to keep the button that detects the cd hatch closed so you could boot a regular ps1 game and then swap it. The playstation 2 is quite different, the internals are reminiscent of a dvd player and are much more advanced in comparison to the original ps1, they developed a chip that could be attached how ever and like i said you are supposed to be able to hook it up to a computer and gain access to the operational programming.

damn... it sucks there is no mod chip that just makes it work... I have an old psx, and have put in about 20 mod chips that just make it work for myself and others... Soldering was a bitch, but you didn't need to swap afterwards...
