We need to define what a bullet is. It´s meaning changes as technology changes, don´t you agree?

Bullets now come ready made to shoot without having to carry a little sack of gun powder around. Also, guns then were "muskets." That is, they had no rifling grooves in the barrel and as such, were pitifully innaccurate. The forefather´s "arm" and our "arm" are very different, don´t you think?

Why am I interested? I´m a casual observer of the human condition.

You must ONLY be a casual observer then.

What did our forefathers use guns for? To shoot stuff. What do we use them for? To shoot stuff.

Did our forefathers not foresee an improvement in technology? They were the best educated men of the time. We do them (and ourselves) a disservice when we say that they wrote the Constitution only for that present time. Did they think the country would die with them? No.

Whether it's a lead ball and musket or a black talon coming through a cop's Spectre vest, they saw this coming, bullets are bullets.

I see you've adopted that familiar Republican refrain of "Oh the laws are on the books, we just need to enforce them." The problem with this absurd refrain is that most of the current laws are ineffective, contain numerous loopholes, and stop far short of what is needed to solve the existing crisis in our nation.

Yes Ryan, you and your cronies should just keep making more and more and more laws. Having the government involved in every aspect of our lives is what you and people like you want right? Do you honestly believe the people who helped found this country would agree with anything you people say/believe? The government is supposed to work for us, not us working for the government. Stricter gun laws is not going to do a god damn thing. 2/3's of the guns used in violent crimes are unregistered, illegal firearms.

In addition, look at states that have adopted concealed weapons permits. The crime has dropped significantly. Here in North Carolina you better think twice before you go out and try to mug someone, cause a good number of people carry concealed weapons. If I ever get a permit, I will hope and pray that someone that some of societies, gangsta, lowlife tries to hold me up, so I can kill him legally.

it mostly just sounds like paranoia to me... but i should expect that from the way the US became a country..

Actually our revolution was very much economy driven. Those who emigrated here from England had - for the most part - neither wealth nor status (why else would they leave?). when they gained it over here, they were sick of paying the Crown, so they said "fuck off". They were not a warlike people (compared to Germans, for example).

Look - if you want to call history "paranoia" and ignore the fact that more people have been killed by their governments than any other cause in the last century, feel free. Just don't ask me to.

in the US?

worldwide. Europe led the way - I'm not talking Africa or strict Islmic nations i.e. the Taliban.

Are Americans somehow different than other people? Do we have larger brains? More civilized? Is this fact irrelevant here?

So? Can´t I use a tank or a rocket launcher to shoot stuff?

"Whether it's a lead ball and musket or a black talon coming through a cop's Spectre vest, they saw this coming, bullets are bullets."

How can you possibly say that? How do you know? Just because you´re intelligent doesn´t mean you can see through time.

You finish by saying that "bullets are bullets." This is not so. There´s no way the founding fathers when thinking of the word "bullet" were capable of conjuring up images of "body armor piercing rounds." Body armor didn´t even exist!

Someone asked me why I should care about American´s rights and freedoms. I thought it was a silly question so I gave a silly answer. Here´s a more serious one. Why shouldn´t I be interested? Aren´t any of you ever interested in the world outside the US? There is one, you know.

to answer your question, yes. i'm worried europe is headed towards a new form of socialism and what's worst is they'll see it as the new way, or the new world oder and try to convince americans it's the best way. they've already convinced the U.N.

ABSOLUTELY. I am very proud of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution as a whole. It is what separates us from every other nation in the world. It is what guarantees the freedoms that have made us the greatest nation in the world. PROUD AS HELL!!!
