Anyone out there who is PROUD to have the 2nd Amendment?

everyone should have the right to health care, regardless of what they make and regardless of what operation needed imo... i'm very happy to have free healthcare because even being on this board i've seen people not go to the doctor or not get all the medical attention he/she needs because he/she cannot afford insurance to cover it... and that's *if* insurance decides to cover it.

i still don't see the point in owning or carrying a gun and i never will...

the point of owning a gun is simple, to protect myself and others around me when law enforcement is unavaliable, which they are most of the time. the second thing is to shoot communits. :D

healthcare is a luxury not a right. when you ration healthcare noone gets any worth a crap. why do canadian doctors come to the u.s. when they need surgery? they come to get it done right and get the best care. if you don't have insurance, such as i, you have access to clinics, emergency rooms, and many doctors will work out payment plans with patiens who don't have insurance. mine do and i'm greatfull for it.

since when is law enforcement unavailable though?

if any canadian goes to the US for medical care, it's because there is something so specialised we don't have it yet i'm guessing - it's not like we have philippe in the garage with rusty tools though... :D

i don't like the way the government has been handling health care as of late, but it's a great program imo... would you not prefer to not have to pay for your health? i would.

what i meant by law enforcement not being avaliable was they are never around when you need them.

i would rather pay out of pocket for the best care possible than to have rationed care payed for by my confiscated tax dollars.

does phillipe perform laser surger with a laser pointer? :D

SMA

I understand that fairly straightforward procedures, such as kidney dialysis, are wait listed in Canada. I also believe that surgeries such as transplants and other advanced surgeries, are very hard to come by. Scores of Canadians come to America annually for treatment.

Also, have you consdered the cost of nationalized health care? Who will pay? Canada's population is much smaller than the US, and you have higher taxes. Imagine the taxes here?! That idea is flawed on so many levels, not the least of which is the reduction of doctor's salaries.

As for guns: hey, if you don;t want to carry, you don't have to. I just don;t want you (or anyone else) deciding for me.

Free Healthcare = Bad News

While a wonderfully utopian concept, it doesn't work well. Note all the people who come to the US for basic treatments and surgery because of long waiting lists and very poor technology.

I have a friend (we all know and love on EF) who has cancer, and while he mail-orders a great of medicine not available in the US, he has gotten some of the most advanced treatments here in the US.

Also, it will further bloat the government. As it is, the US has an agency for nearly every social concern out there....we can't really afford to add another one.

The only thing that we should be streamlining is the FDA's process for approving drugs and treatments. Right now there are some unbelievable treatments/medcine available but won't be approved for a good 5-7 years.

Oh you can take my guns, but you have to agree to take the bullets I send out to you first. :)
