Anyone out there who is PROUD to have the 2nd Amendment?

The 2nd Amendment, like any other amendment, is subject to regulation. Thus, legislators have every right to restrict the 2nd Amendment to advance the health, safey, and welfare of our society.

Prepare to see more regulations on the purchase and sell of guns. It's going to take more than the NRA (killing machine) to give everyone an absolute, unqualified, ubiquitous right to own a gun.

You see Ryan, I have nothing against the 2nd amendment. But, I have problems with those 50% of gun owners which are not mentally qualified to own a weapon.

an "arm" is used as a short version of firearms or weapons. before guns people took up "arms" with swords and crossbows or any weapon they could get for that matter.

I know that to be a stretch.

Then why did the NRA fight the Brady Bill so long? Because they put self-interest ahead of the public good.

b/c the NRA saw the brady bill as a step in the wrong direction.

we know that when the gov't takes something away---they dont do it suddenly--its a process.

Ryan: This is where your argument fails.

BY DEFINITION OF "CRIMINAL" THERE IS NO LEGISLATION THAT WOULD DETER CRIMINALS.

Stop trying to invent it.

LOL. Quite the contrary. Of course there is legislation that would deter criminals whereas most criminals are repeat offenders, and the possibility always remains of bringing recidivism down through wise legislation.

Circular logic at its finest.

In your words:

Of course there is legislation that would deter criminals.....the possibility always remains of bringing recidivism down through wise legislation.

OR

Legislation would deter criminals, because we can use legislation to deter additional crime.

Ahhh....the legal profession. (I have 11 attorneys that work for me. I deal with this all day).

Nothing circular about my argument at all:

Because most crimes are committed by repeat offenders, legislation, to be effective, should address not simply potential criminals but should address criminals (and recidivism) as well.

That's a totally different statement and you know it. I'll give you a free pass typing not matching thinking. i do it all the time.

Gun control does not work, period. Let's take a look at the latest country to fall prey to this fallacy...Great Britan.

New Scotland Yard figures show London Murders with guns increased 87% in the first 8 months of 2001 comprared to the same period in 2000. Armed muggings rose 53%, and significant rises in virtually all offenses involvolving firearms. This in a country that in 1998 felt it would be free of violent crime now that gun ownership was illegal.

I feel much safer knowing that I can own a weapon that quite possibly save my or anothers life someday.

If you do not want guns around move to Great Britan, or australia I am sure they will tell you it is alot safer now that gun ownership is illegal in their countries:rolleyes:
