Mine ranges from 112/74 - 145/86. DR. or nurse have never been concerned.
Where did you have it done? Maybe it's just 'White Coat Syndrom', where you get nervous & tense, 'cause you know it's being tested. A more important indicator is averaging several tests over a period of time.
There is a guy where I work who's pressure was 190 /110. They brought it down to 150/85 & they seem content with that.
Good Luck

168/82 was from the 24hr monitoring they do with that little machine you wear. so that makes it not so goos as it was an average over 24 hours and a total of 38 measurements

yeah, mine is 120/80 normally, then maybe 135/85 when i look at the little fat roll under my belly button, and probably peaks at 200/150 when im looking fabulously, deliriously good out on the town and there are maybe 4 good looking girls in the whole crowd...of 2000. and theyre all married. to each other.

Mine tends to creep up around 160/85 or higher at times. But I've noticed as long as I'm doing cardio at least 3 times/wk. it's always been good(with or w/o gear) :qt:

At a not so distance time in the past, mine was 160/110.

I'm going end up on meds......fuck.

168/82 isn't borderline. That's Stage II hypertension.

Stage I: 140-160/90-100
Stage II: 160-180/100-110
Stage III: 180-200/110-120
Stage IV: >200/>130

"Pre-hypertension" is 120-140/80.

You should really get your blood pressure treated. High blood pressure is dangerous in those that lift heavy weights, especially powerlifters. There is evidence from a small study that showed that arterial systolic blood pressures can go as high as 300 in normotensive people and as high as 400 in people who have a history of high blood pressure when they perform heavy squats.

With blood pressures this high, you run the risk of aneurysm formation/dissection of your aorta.

Don't mess with your health. Get your blood pressure treated and just blame it on genetics, which is the cause in the majority of cases of hypertension. High blood pressure will lead to heart failure, strokes, heart attacks, and kidney failure if it's left untreated.

to be diagnosed as hypertension though it needs to be elevated on three consecutive readings....not just a one time thing.
