Anyone have a cable crossover in their home???

Hi, I workout at home and am looking to buy a cable cross over to put in my basement. Anyone have any feedback on brands (bodysolid, powertec, NYBB etc.). ANy feedback would be much appreciated. Also, if someone has used the selectorized stack versus the plate loaded ones let me know what you think. Thanks!!

I don't have any personal experience with home gym type cross over machines but I can tell you from my research in lat pull/low row machines is to get the kind with two chrome guide rods. I have not noticed a difference between plate load and selectorized systems as long as they are both gliding on the chrome guide rods. What ever you do, make sure that you don't get the kind with the square carriage that slides on square powder coated tubing. They cause too much friction and you will hate the mahcine.

What is your budget and I'll see what I can find. I love looking at equipment that I can't afford. Kind of like porn.

Also, what exercises are you looking to do with it? I can pretty much do anything except chest flys with just a lat pull/low row machine ie. one arm side/front laterals, tricept pressdowns, lat pulldowns, seated row, bicept curls etc.

Thanks for the reply. I too have a lat pulldown machine (the same one as you-as I read it in another post of yours). I am quite pleased with mine. I want the cable crossover to be able to do cable cross overs, flyes from a flat bench and rear lateral raises. My budget is between 300-800.

Thanks for looking. I like the powertec model (the one for 679), but it seems that it is not that wide, which may make cable crossovers difficult. I like New York Barbells equipment, but have a concern with how the pulley system may work (my lat pulldown works well but anything less than 25lb plates causes the machine to stick). This usually isn't a problem except when I am doing bodyparts that require light work (like shoulders i.e. lateral raises.)

Thanks for the replies. I'm now leaning toward the New York barbell plate loaded cable crossover (with chrome guide rods) for 599. I've done business with them before, so I'll try and haggle them down to 550 (tax included). I'm just still a little leery about whether or not they will be as smooth with lighter plates on (10lb plates for laterals and such).
