Codes? Can you elaborate as to why it would suck. I also just found out I will be working with abused girls 11-17.

codes are what we call the kids acting up against themselves, staff, or other patients/clients. they can be destructive at times, violent, self harming, etc, in which case a "code green" is called, a code for out of control patients. and 95% of the kids in mental institutions are abused physically or sexually or come from extremely fucked up families, drugs. it is usually always traceable to the parents and their lack of being such

i say it sucks because the kids act out together, adults usually do it alone, and soon the whole unit is mass chaos. they have lack of respect for authority, seldom follow directives, and can be little terrors. i envy no one who works on those units. also the kids can be vindictive. one of the female adolescents didn't like my ex-wife, who worked on the long-term adolescent ward, so she said my ex inappropriately touched her one time. my ex was moved to a different unit until that girl turned 18, it was almost a yr, and was shipped somewhere else

You know how at max security jails, how like if a prisoner is acting up in his cell, like 10 guards open the door and rush in all swat like with shields and faced masked….well, if I ran a mental hospital, we would do that to everyone there at least once a day, like surprise beat downs at 2 in the morning and stuff ahahahahahahahha

Never worked in one but I had a bit part in a flick where I played a female orderly in a mental hospital. The irony of it was that I was far more muscular than the dude who played my male superior. HEhehehehehheheheheee There was this one scene where he is looking through a girlie magazine while I was sitting on the coffee table (the one he had his feet up on) doing bicep curls. God was that funny.... or what?

porn?

Worked in one in Boston back in 1989 as a guard.I was 19 years old.Ist floor check-in and medical facility,2nd floor detox and 3rd floor for the so called loonies.Had to help strap a lot of people down. Not nice(aids was always at the back of my mind as it got scrappy and bitey)Detox admissions was the worst as It took ages to check em in and I had to be there.3rd floor was usually calm as most seemed doped beyond belief and just wandered up and down corridoors.had a huge bunch of keys as everydoor had to be locked behind me when I did rounds.Very easy to dissapear for a few winks without being disturbed suddenly he he !Was desperate for the money but only lasted 6 weeks.
All in all a distressing but eye opening experience.Cheers.
