Anyone else getting pwned by allergies this spring ?

calveless wonder

New member
Its been so bad in Florida for the past month, that I had to start using claritin for the first time ever. I also have to wash my car every 3 days if I don't want it completely yellow and covered in pollen

I've been getting fuckin pwned with headaches, shortness of breath and general fatigue

I get pwned when the tree pollen hits, then get a little break...only to get pwned again late in the summer when the ragweed pollen starts. I take Claritin every day, and get allergy shots, but it still fucks with me.

Zyrtec FTW. Claritin sucks. Take it from an ancient allergy sufferer. It's still winter (and cold as fuck) here so it hasn't started to get back for me yet.

I just bought zyrtec a few minutes ago. I tried claritin and it helped for the first week or so and then it didn't help as much so imngonna give it a shot.

It's still too cold for all that here. I have a script for a nasal spray that does me pretty good. Also check into singulair.

Eastern/Central Florida is doing fine... not much pollen from the palm trees beach side... just sayin' ;)

Uh,...maybe your specific area but central Florida is awful. Look at the pollen reports for anywhere that's not directly on the beach. It's 10+ on a maximum of 12 scale for the index forecasters use

Too cold in NY. I'll be florida a lot of this month so we'll see how I feel.

yeah near the ocean oak trees don't exist.

very hard for them to grow there. drive 15 minutes inland and then you will feel it.

what you do have to worry about near the ocean more then inland though is the salty air and the mold.

Not yet, but things just started blooming in the last couple of weeks. I'm a little pleasantly surprised by the large amount of cherry blossom trees around here, as a side note. It was one of the few things I thought I'd be missing about dc.

I'm actually in the process of buying a house with 3 giant oak trees ^_^

lots of oaks near the beach in Nc....shoot, my parents' retirement home is on "oak island" lol

allegra is the only allergy medicine that doesnt cross teh blood brain barrier, meaning no drowsiness. all the other "non-drowsy" meds have stims, f that. been taking allegra since the summer btw; it's been working pretty well for me

i just put my contacts in and they burned a little an dim like "uhm itl ware off"

then my eyes turned bright red and it burned exponentially worse and worse. then i rubbed my eyes. and had to tear my contacts out. they feel better again.

looks like i wont be able to see today

you better not fuck around with that. do you clean your contacts and take them out regularly? My friend/old roomate almost lost his vision permanently from that. woke up one day and his eyes were all red and couldn't see. fortunately we lived by the main eye care specialist facility in south florida and they gave him special eye drops. but they said if he waited too long he would have went blind

do you know what the issue was?

i take my contacts out almost every night. i only sleep in them if i pass out unexpectedly, or take a hr nap or something.

i just put them in briefly this morning and it fucking sucks so i took them back out.

he left in his contacts too long or didn't clean them out and it caused some type of infection

Contacts can be dangerous if not properly cared for, a friend actually lost most vision in his eye and it turned whiteish due to a stupid colored contact, I NEVER put stuff in thee unless I am forced... to me eyes are kinda like an open wound per se....

I never really had them when I was younger...but got really bad the older I got.

Been taking allergy shots for a few years now and now I don't take any medicine at all and very rarely have them.
