SO I checked out this show on Saturday
Let me just start with some rants:
I've never seen so many trucker hats in my life! I wanted to slap them off the heads of some of these schmucks, specially the chicks. they jsut look retarted.
There were tons of chicks at this event, but it seemed that the only way to have a chance at scoring was to wear a trucker hat (tilted sideways seemed to improve the odds) or have a maltese cross tattoed on you (neither of which I'm willing to do).
This motorcross stunts crap gets boring real fast. It was kind of cool to see them jump from ramp to ramp and do soem half way exciting stunt for about 5 mins. but then it gets old. The format for this event was 1 hour of bikes, and one hour of music. I had to put up with hours of extreme dust and crappiness before I got to see the bands I wanted see.
Mountains of dirt, motorcycles blowing dirt all over the place, hot sun and all day concert don't mix.
$7 for a fucking beer!
Why do people think that just because they camped out in front of the stage for 30 minutes before the band comes out that they are entitled to that spot? I've been going to concerts for years and it's always been about conquering and fighting to keep that spot. People pushing, jabbing elbows, trying to jam you out of the way, those are the things that come with being at the very front of the crowd. There was a whole crowd of little pussy motherfuckers that started crying when I used my seasoned concert elbows to jam you out of their spot. One chick thought that I was goign to stop just becasue she said "you cant do that". I can and I did, hope you had a good view of the stage from behind me.
The first band that played were the Kotton Mouth Kings. I'm not into their style at all, but they had a big crowd who all seemed to know their songs, so who am I to say they suck! I can picture these guys playing with ICP.
The second band was called Static Lullaby. They were OK except they had a bit too much "numetal" specially during the chorus of msot songs, which made the entire song suck. The vocals also relied heavily on the scream. Unless the screamer is of Cradle of Filth calliber, they should only be used to accentuate certain parts of the song and not be the main content of it.
Pennywise played third, they were good. They played alot of their old stuff and also did covers from tons of other old punk bands. I got in the mosh pit for a bit but the dust was so intense, that I couldn't breathe so I got out.
Social D was pretty kick ass. Most of the stuff they played was the old stuff that people know and like and they only did like 3 songs from their new album. They also played the Under my Thumb cover, which was good.
Overall, becasue of the extreme suckiness of the everything, aside from Pennywise and Social D, this concert sucked. They plan to make it a yearly event, I dont think I'll be checking out next year.
After this event we stopped at a bar that was on the way home, to check out the Smut Peddlers. We were all sweaty, dirty and stinky, but it was a punk show so who gives a fuck. Small bar, 3 punk bands, chicks and beer. Had a way better time here than I did at that overpriced, over hyped dust bowl event.
