Writing down every thing you eat in a little notebook like carbs, protien, sugar, fat, and calories. I am sure this is a stupid question I would think many of you do it because you always seem to able to write down your diet. I figure by doing this I can really start to fine tune things and get more serious.

I did for a few days than that shit got me paranoid cause it had to be exact or whaeva but i dont care as long as im near my calorie range to lean i am fine:)

Thou shalt track thy diet!

Nearly every article you read on weight loss or bodybuilding nutrition stresses the importance of eating the right amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fat, and overall calories per day - - but none of them tell you how to do it! For me personally it's not an option; I have to track my diet some way... I do not trust my appetite to signal me when I've eaten 300-500 cals above or below maintenance. For months I wrote down everything I ate and each food's nutritional values. I eventually ended up inventing my own simplified calorie tracking system!

Try Crosstrainer II ... you have to download it from the site. It's got foods already programmed into it, and then you can add your own if you want. I tried that fitday.com, but i don't like having to get on the internet to have to use it.:D

Personally, keeping a daily diary of my diet would drive me crazy. Also, I don't think that by simply doing that makes you more serious about dieting.
