I had a bad car wreck. Had a lacerated liver and pancreas, left sided hemo/pneumothorax, and ruptured spleen. I lost 40 pounds. I couldn't even really work out for 4 months.
i was 282 when i got shot. after 13 days in the hospital, i weighed just over 230. i would sweat thru clothes in a matter of an hour or so. my body was devouring itself.

I lost 30 lbs in about 15 days or so. I was travelling and I contracted a rare starin of salmonella posoining that is usally fatal. i was in the hospital for 10 days and on bed rest for about 6 months after. It fucked me up mentally and physically really bad. It took like 2 years for me to get my shit back to where it was. Worst days of my life!!!
I lost a good 20 lbs when I had mono in college, but once I got better and was able to eat again it didn't take but a few weeks to put that weight back on.
I just dropped about 30lbs due to back surgery. Pain med such as percs and oxy strip the weight off of you. Not to mention the lack of cals i was getting in the hospital. I am on the road to recovery now. I currently weigh about 230.
Its tough mentally no doubt but you would be how much your body reacts to your mental thoughts. You have to keep a positive mind set. If you know your body then you should be able to make changes to get your self in the right direction again. Thats what Im doing. I use to compete and ill do it again. I know that. So im training again back on the gear for the first time in a while. And all will be good in no time.
The question is what happened to you, how long have you been out for? You never want to rush back in because you can hurt your self more causing more time off. The longer you are out the longer it will take to recover.
I lost 15 pounds after getting my wisdom teeth out. Couldn't eat.
Losing as much weight as some of you guys lost would honestly make me suicidal. I'm scared that something like that could happen to me because I don't know how I could handle it.
more than the weight, what really affects me is when I go back the first day to the gym and I can't even lift half of what I used to. That shit kills me, watching kids lifting heavier weights than me. lol and of course looking like shit.
