Any friends of Bill W. Here?

I'm not sure how many people know about Bill W. I was forced into AA so I'm not a big fan. I finally decided to quit eveything on my own and have been completely sober for over 18 years. The 12 step programs did nothing for me because I wasn't ready to quit at that time. Everyone is different and if it works for you that is great. Just like roids, somethings work better for some than others.

Been sober 18 months this time,

First time in my life going to meetings on a regular basis, looking for a sponsor

(only been going to meetings about 60 days)

Need to work the program, quitting is pretty easy, staying sober is almost impossible, Never have had a sponsor and never have worked the program. Quit the first time in 1988, not worried just need to stick with it this time.

Very best wishes to all of you. I can't imagine how difficult it must be. Hell, it took me four tries to quit smoking.

Me, 13+ years clean and sober. Ive seen a lot of guy's on some other boards to. I still go to AA and NA meetings once or twice a week, for me, and to help other people by letting them know, you can change the course of your life. I have a great life today, mainly because I don't drink, do coke, smoke weed , or any of that stupid crap anymore that used to consume my life. I have never had a problem with moderation with AS, especially now that I am getting older, hell I don't like the shots anymore, after all these years it gets old. The rewards of a sober like are endless, my like is totally opposite from were it used to be, today I am on top of the world, but it takes time so go to meetings, talk to people, make friends, join a group.

PS keep the AS issue off the table, most people know nothing, except what they hear on the news, and are not capable of understanding the difference between AS and crack, most people at meetings are no different.

Congrats to all the guys who recognized they had a problem and got sober.
