from where you can drop the first and the last letter, and it still is a word that has some actual meaning? Or will it turn all to Dutch/Czech.

cane, bane, lane, etc.
fore, lore, gore, more, etc.
bate, mate, rate, etc.

more/better ones to come if you like

brain teaser..........hummm........I'll have to get back to ya on this one. Nothing immediatly comes to mind.

damn! I was thinking of bigger words....I always have to make things more difficult than they actually are.

:mix:

I mean dropping the bolded letters of the word like "disaster". Would "isaste" still be an English word with a meaning?

okay, that is the way I thought you meant.......I really don't think so. Your gonna have me thinking of this all day. :mix:

you should clarify your question.

isaste is not a word. if you chop actual english words in that manner, the result will not be another english word in most cases.

yeah I know but there has to be at least one....I just can't think of any.
No maybe not even 1 now that I think more on it :worried:

he asked a question, i answered it. giving an example like "disaster" doesn't help much. what is it about that kind of word? does he want longer words? clarification is needed.

are you bored? LOL

I think Cambridge University has a study on this. Not sure if that was already mentioned at any time in the past.

Also, radar. or murder.

or pen or pens. pencils. stensiles.

textiles. I have a million* words.

I KNOW! I'm lookin' for the ones that are actual words.

yes, but i've given you valid examples, based on your criteria...which are scant.

if the ones i've given aren't good enough, state why. rules.

it seems like you want only root words, without modifications, which when chopped, result in other words that have nothing to do with the original.

chasten, morale, for example.

The english language does not work that way. We have multi-letter prefixes and suffixes that can be removed, but the word will be altered (although the root word definition will not).

he probably knows that much about english, unless he picked it up watching tranny TV.
