What would be the best receiver I could get for under 800 bucks?
I've talked to a lot of audiophiles and they all say everything that is made nowadays is crap. Is that completely true?

I would suggest yamaha since they are the most bang for uyour buck type receivers. most of them have equal amplification through all five channels, digital inputs and outputs, and dsp crap. you could also check out rotel, nad, denon.
