Y - so right. After it happened I realize I should've walked up to the gas station and given the attendant the money and asked the guy what pump he'd be on.

Thanks, but given that it's just $5 and I felt like a cheapass just posting the thread, I really haven't thought about it since except when I see this thread pop up. Given your analogy the other day on curling's thread, if this guy asked you for $23K for gas and then drove off with it, do you think you'd have reacted the same way I did?

Nah, that shit was for a small number of friends anyway....and that analogy was off, rather than $5 in college, should have maybe said $50 in college.

This would have pissed me off though - I would have had staff look him up and then called him at home to ask him what he did with the 5 bucks.

That same story happened to me but AT MY HOUSE! lol The dude rang my bell and gave me that story, but he said his aunt lives two houses away from me. He told me her name, and there were a few older females living there in the 2 family house that were very nice people but I did`nt know their names to verify. He said they were`nt home and really needed to get gas money and WOULD PAY ME BACK. I only had a ten in my wallet so I gave it to him. He said he would come back later to pay me back. I told him forget it.

I never asked my neighbors about it. lol What was I gonna say? "Do you have a nephew...that broke down...?" There were a few women living there, too much of a hassle...


Supersizeme, or anyone else, especially if the dude looks clean cut and has SOME money, ask him his phone number and call it on the spot with your cell phone.

Most of the time the guys that pull that arn't even bums. They actually pull in lots of money doing it and probbly have other jobs doing other con artist type stuff.

Every year around the holidays these two guys hit up every major shopping parking lot on Long Island and use the need money for gas trick. I've seen them so many times doing it. Same as you said, they were dressed well and looked like very decent people just in need. It's part of there scam to draw you into pity and understanding for their situation.

My mom even noticed these guys and they actually hit her up 3 times at different times. The 3rd time she said something to the guy and he got up in her face and called her a bitch and was acting like he wanted to hit her because she called him on his scam.

She was there by herself and thankfully nothing happened....But when I think of that story I just wish I happened to be in the store walking out a bit behind her and heard the guy talk to her like that.
