Another great okie workout!!!

Another fun Sunday in the dungeon. There was definately some pain felt in the dungeon today. By committee we came up with the idea to do reverse blue band, 2 board shirt presses for our max effort exercise. Things went very well for all of us. Screwball's new shirt seemed to fit him well and we all hit some good numbers. There were a ton of warmups that I won't bore you guys with but the final tally went as follows:

bigokie: 405 ( I am not sure, but I think this may have been his first time over 4 bills, so big milestone, look for huge numbers from him in the future)

Screwball: 600. It was the longest amount of time I have ever seen someone struggle under a bar and still lockout the weight. Very very impressive lift.

Benchmonster: 650. I smoked 600 pretty fast and easy, but the 650 was slow, painful and very ugly. My wrists and elbows were feeling pretty beat up by this point, and I was anxious to call it quits after this lift.

Then we did full range of motion reverse band close grip bench for triceps. We started off around 315 for 3's or 5's and worked up in 2's and 3's and 5's to a single.

bigokie: 405
Screwball: 505
benchmonster: 505

We then did band rows, dumbell power cleans and called it a day. Every training session that we get together is better than the last one. I am blown away at the level of commitment and knowledge of the other members of the okie crew. It is a priviledge to train with these guys, and anyone who has not had the pleasure is missing out.

Assylum members, we would like to extend an invitation to the dungeon. Maybe once every couple months we can make a road trip to the assylum, and you guys can come down to the dungeon a couple months later.

Great numbers! Very impressive.

Any commitment that takes a person up to those numbers is awesome. Knowledge too. Certainly gives this beginner some motivation.

The invitation sounds great, I am sure the others would not mind having you three here, and I would be interested in seeing the big boys train, I would definately be humbled.
Can't speak for the whole gym, but I don't think it would be a problem. :)

You know it used to be called the Asylum until Spatts changed her avatar. Thank you for the invite...and allow me to say that your crew is welcome to train with us anytime. We would have to make some arrangements in advance since you guys seem to be on a different schedule than us. We use Mon,Wed,Fri,Sun...today was Speed Bench day. But hell yes...that would be worth a road trip.

Nice lifts...I am in the process of ordering a shirt that fits....once I get it I will have to give the Shirted Board Presses a try.

Nice lifts....

Great liftng from the Sooners! Keep it up with those big weights- feeling those heavy weghts are making your mind and muscles stronger

what is this business? florida has lifters...okie has lifters...ohio has lifters...washington (irish) has lifters...KC (hannibal) has lifters...where is texas? i mean damn. am i the only person representing texas around here?

none the less, you guys are putting up great numbers. keep up the good work!!

Thanks to all, and Hannibal, I have adjusted my schedule to fit when the okie crew can get together, and so does the other members, so we can get something figured out for a weekend road trip some time. I would like to come up there sometime this summer if that is cool.

Screwball will post some pics up here Tuesday, I think, or may have to send them to Deceiver to post, but you can see how big the other two okies are, and how small by comparison I am. It is pretty funny. bigokie has me by over 50 lbs and Screwball has me by 80 or so. Big, strong, motivated guys.

Hannibal, and all others, I highly recommend the shirt/board press. I really feel like I have stumbled on to a gold mine hear. After feeling 600 and 650, I am hoping the 525 or 550 that I go for in July feels pretty light. Doing the reverse bands with the blues on top of the shirt and board really worked the lockout. It was insane how hard it was to lock out once we got up to some serious weight.

Now, 8 hours post workout, I am worn slick. I get pretty excited during a workout and usually don't realize how much it takes out till later. Well, I am paying for the fun now. Ouch!!!

Oh my God,

Hannibal, I just realized your joke was because I misspelled asylum with two s's. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

That is funny as Hell. Since you brought it up, let me say, that you are one lucky fella. We are all envious of you. ASSylum. . . HA!

P3 . . . Can't remember the rest, there are tons of Texas powerlifers. Just maybe not any on here. What city do you live in/near? I know Tiny Meeker lives somewhere in Texas. I am thinking there are some serious guys near Dallas and also Houston. I want to say that Johnnie Jackson lives in Texas too. You definately need to put together a Texas Crew.

Summer is cool....well not literally. Just let us know when you can all make it. You guys are more than welcome...and if you need to stay overnight...dont sweat a hotel. By that time I will be back up to 275-280....not sure if we can all fit in my garage.

The shirt/board press sounds like something I need to try. Like I said just need a shirt that fits...then I will try it.

We definitely need to get together. And like Hannibal said, don't worry about anything but gas and food. Between Project, Hannibal, and myself, we have room for lots of people in our homes.

I would like to see everyone converge at Eagle in STL sometime too. B, Dawn, the okies, springfield, Ohio...it's a central location for alot of us.

We will try and cook something up later this summer. And a get together in St. Louis would be great as well. It is only a 6 hour drive for me. Would love to have a big midwest elite get together.

I hope to be at Eagle Gym in STL this Saturday...:)

Hey guys, sorry to take so long to post. Haven't had much time lately.

Sunday was another great workout. Every workout with B and Screwball is better than the last. It makes all the difference in the world lifting with guys that know what they are doing and are strong. It's great for me since B and Screwball are both stronger than I am. It's true what they say about working out with guys stronger than you are.

We used my blue bands for reverse 2 board and these are killers. Benchmonster and Screwball hadn't used blues reversed, I had. They really allow you to overload your lockout. Especially if you throw a shirt on. I borrowed one of Bench's old ones. It was a little tight but did the job good. I still have scars on my arms from it. I'm definately gonna get one made for me at the end of summer. Like Benchmonster said I made 405 and tried 455 but missed. I think my miss was mostly due to the fact that my bench form sucks! I try to set the bar too high on my chest and then get stuck. It's something I've needed to work on but haven't for some reason or another. I honestly thought Screwball would pass out after his 600. He turned a nice shade of maroon. He missed it barely. I had to help some to get it up, but not much. Next time he'll get it. Brian nailed 600 and got 650. He got real flattened out to get it up to the racks and took a beating racking it. After that we did close grip with reverse bands. I hadn't tried these and they seemed to work good.

Benchmonster, thanks again for letting us invade your dungeon. See ya soon and good luck in July.

Sorry about the delay but I've been on the road. Just got back tonight. I sent nine pictures to Deciever in hopes that he can post them. Once he posts, I'll respond. Help a brother out, Deciever!

give me a few minutes.. im having trouble downloading them from my email, it wont get a solid connection... i'll see what i can do.

Sweet. I sure hope my hair was fixed in the pics, Oh God, I hope my tan was even, did my shirt match my shoes? Oh the shame!!!

Come on Deceiver, make us famous.

B.
