Still on the road to recovery...but it is getting shorter and shorter:)

I am hoping that between the band tension on the box squats and the free standing GM's will help my squat...AND I can start doing chain suspended GM's in the next week or two for my deadlift. I am feeling better and the hamstring tendons are feeling better too...

please right click and 'SAVE TARGET AS'!!!

Sick day

how do those kettlebell swings feel? I think I might start doing them. i'd just be afraid of them hitting me in the nuts

sick stone loading all around! do they have those big platforms at other contests too?

All I can ask for is progress every week. If I continue to progress on the farmers I will hopefully be able to take those 325's for 200' with one turn. I need to be using 325-350 every week for the next few months. I'll have to use 375's in February if I go to Boston.

My body is feeling stronger all around. Not 100%...but about 85-90% strength wise and about 75-80% contest ready. Before my next contest I need to GM 600, Incline 405+, hit 325-345+ on a log, pull 700, make a LONG run with 350+ on the farmers, carry 800+ on a yoke for a good bit, be able to complete a HEAVY 4 part medley, and take 650 for 4-5 turns on my Conan's Wheel.

Now that is sick :bawling: and I thought I had high goals. I know you can get the incline with ease jsut more spped work at the bottom and the gm's I know you are close, but farmers :( the 215's killed me after 100' . well as always good luck and give a pm or call if you want

Just look at who I get to compete against from now on though...

Phil Phister
Jesse Marunde
Mark Phillipi
Ken Brown
Steve Kirit
Chad Smith
Chad Coy
Chris Doyle
Karl Gillingham
Brian Schoonveld

And the list of American's go on and on...

Kinda scary...

shit that is a scary list any buffet owner must cringe at that montley crew. hmmm I know you can do all the stones and get the wheel and heavy pulls but those farmers are a bitch. Half the time I was carrying them I was so incoherent I didn't know who I was, all I saw was a little line made of chalk off in the distance

exactly...b you are a very fast and athletic strongman, from the list of events you posted for Boston I would put all my money on a guy like you to win

Thanks man...appreciate it a lot. People do tend to underestimate me a lot. I'm not as big as a lot of people (not near as big as you) and people tend to count me out or say that I am not strong... Hopefully I can shock a few and place top 12.

Did you see my kettle bell swings? Look any better?

B True

The swings, especially the fourth set where you were really throwing your hips looked very powerful, and a lot looser.

There is a little variation/drill that you can add to the swings, maybe to warm up. Instead of always keeping your chest and shoulders 'big' and in front of you, go ahead and let the weight pull you though your legs a little, focus on being relaxed always. This will let you feel more stretch and hopefully loosen up your hips.

Another thing you can do is do a set where you swing the bell low, med, then high, then back to low, med, and high again, in other words vary the hight of each swing.

There is a professional highland games competitor at my gym who probably knows some great stuff to work for this particular event, next time I see him I'll ask him.

I think you tend to underestimate yourself some too. You definately are goiing to shock alot of people ( yourself included) You're gonna do great!!!

I hate that we're not going to get to have any more training days, but King and I will be moving closer soon so we'll get to meed up again. Great job on the PR and good luck!

Any ideas of where you might be headed? I could only hope that it would be further South? Somewhere in Alabama?

Hey, a man can dream, right?

Oh well. I'll still be making some trips anyway.

And good luck to you, man. I'm sure that you will do well on your interviews. Who could say no to you? :)

Hey, B:

Ronin67 (his "name" here on Elite), told me you had some kettlebell swings in your training.

Cool!

Just to let you know, that we'll be getting a pair of 36lb kb's. Knew it would provide some carry-over to strongman. I'll also be getting a clubbell to add into our training.

Man, much fun!

Slinky are you guys buying a club bell? I know a way to make them really cheap if you want a couple different sizes.

IronLion:

I was told to start with a 10lb, but that seems too light to me. Especially when my BF will be using it, too. So, I'm going to start with the 15lb. - I was able to work a bit with a 20lb, so I have a good idea of how they feel.

I know we'll be needing a 20lb (and heavier), club bell in the near future!

I'd be very happy to hear what you can do - PM me if you'd like. That's just too awesome to know!

How'd the interviews go?

Both went really well...

The first company was VERY IMPRESSIVE!! I'd love to be a part of that organization but they are not hiring at the moment.

The second company...I was insulted. I did not earn my college degree to wear a suit and tie every day and make less than $9 an hour...

that sucks...sorry man...i know that had to suck for them to waste your time like that...well hopefully the 1st one will need someone soon.

It'll all work out bro.

You've got your head in the right place, and something will come. Just have faith.
