I think intense excercise can cause an aneursism to explode. A guy at my gym died from one while deadlifting. I guess he took DEADlifting a bit too literally. However, I don't think you can claim it's actually caused by weightlifting. The way I understand it is that there is a preexisting weakness in the artery and the physical strain causes it to rupture, meaning that it could have happened while he was carrying furniture or anything else that causes a physical strain.
BTW..my great uncle survived the Nazis in WWII but died from an aneurism. He just woke up in the middle of the night complaining of a headache and then dropped dead.
