Andre Arlovski vs Low level pro boxer

Can't really compare the two fairly; both types of athletes train differently.

A boxer is used to giving and recieving many blows, with padded gloves.

A MMA athlete is used to giving and recieving few blows, without padded gloves.

Forced to answer, I'd say Arlovski, because he's trained for the quick finish.

what is it about black belts being knocked out by boxers?i know of two instances recently. one i saw in person and the other i was informed about.both street fights of course. i think bruce lee knew what he was talking about when he said a good boxer would beat most black belts in a fight.and both boxers were only good amateurs.

I train with Andre and saw it go down, but would like to see more responses before I spill the beans. The boxer is 6'4" 240lbs former semi-pro football player turned 4-0 pro boxer.

Boxing is just a superior striking art to almost anything else outhere. The Boxing we know today started with guys just brawling and eventually as fighters watched other fighters and fights, they started to develop techniques. It is an art that has been forged thru hundreds of years of competition.

The way MMA is going, Boxing will be the next Art to dominate the sport over the next 1-2 years... BJJ had its time at the begining, Boxing is on the rise right now, waiting for its turn. As long as you know enough about the BJJ and MT game to defend against it, superior Boxing skills will carry you to the win. You need proof? Just watch: Takanori Gomi, Chuck Lidell and Andre Arlovsky... They know every part of the game, but their hands skills is what wins them fights.

to be fair we would have to see the boxer to make a good guess but i can definately see andre holding his own against most amatuer boxers so ill guess him.

But BRR who do you think wins in a boxing sparring match? Andre or the boxer I described above?

Bro, Andre is so strong and quick that I see him doing really well in a sparring match against a low level pro boxer.

I think andre would just overwhelm the boxer with quick precise blows, kinda like his last fight

dude that was like quick precise blow....
well I think he had an upper cut in there to but damn

I would say probubly Arlovski would 'win' the sparring match
but I don't think he'd take out his equivilent in boxing

where would you guys rank him in mma?

Rank him? .... hmmmm....

I would say in the top 4 in the world. He is definatly #1 in the UFC and there is a HUGE gap between him and then second guy (whom ever it may be)... If we are talking about pride too... He is a step below fedor, and fighting for second with CroCop and Nogeira...

It was really cool to watch, but Andre pretty much got owned on points. The boxer is Carl "Iron Fist" Davis. Andre wore no headgear or mouthpiece and was much more aggresive, where the boxer was more patient, working the jab. Neither got knocked down. Every time Andre would get hit flush he would just go after the guy like he wanted to take his head off. You could tell Andre had to hold off going for throws/knees in the clinch. But when you see Andre is one of the better strikers in mma and then see how he does against a boxer, in a boxing match, it puts things into perspective. Although I would agree that mma punching and boxing can be very different. Side note, the boxer is the same guy who gave that guy a brain hemmorage as his sparing partner when he was getting ready for a big fight at the United Center in Chicago. I have more training with Andre stories if anyone cares.

He speaks very little English, but is getting better. He walks into class near the end most nights towards the end of the technique portion and warms up by himself off to the sides of the mat. That man can do a neck bridge like you would not believe. Most of the time the teacher has him lay down and then one by one the students get on top of him in whatever position they want and Andre has to escape. Everyone usually goes twice (10-15 guys). He barely breaks a sweat and on people his weight or smaller he can usually just push them off(using technique though, he pushes your hips hard to get you off of the mount after he bridges) he usually transfers to a heel hook from mount escape. I was able to hold him down once before the teacher called time, and I weigh 350 lbs and have been training since 1996. He never swept me or just pushed me off, but it was always a battle. The weird thing is he dosen't really talk or acknowledge you at all during training, dosen't even look at you in the eye. I think people that were born to be fighters just have that different look in their eye, you know what I mean?

In the near future, the guys who can defend against BJJ and MT, and have superior hand skills will win fights. BJJ had its time, and it's domination is now coming to an end, guys know how to defend agains BJJ and throw in the MMA work to tip the balance. In todays MMA rings, you can step inthere with a BJJ Black Belt and powne him even if you don't have a Blue belt, as long as you know how to defend against his game plan, you can come out on top.

most people don't give him as much credit as you do
I agree he's awsome
for someone his size he's so light on his feet

that's handy for me
cus my instructor focus's on striking
specifically boxing
with mthai spiced in for extra clinch options and some kicking tho he'd prefer I don't kick
I'd liek to tap people out tho I think it would be cool
but he think smy best area is on my feet
the Clinch specifically

andre is a animal imo he is one of the best fighters in the world pound for pound although hes gonna get a good test vs frank mir that guy is a beast myself i can wait for arlovski vs mir in 06 ill def be watching

I see him doing well against low level. He has a great base from MMA to draw upon but against the top boxers he'd would have a hard time.

I think it depends on what kind of gloves they would use. Little 4 oz MMA gloves are hard as hell to block. Bigger boxing gloves might throw off a MMA fighter a bit as well.

I think AA is equal to a low level pro boxer either way though.
