majutsu said:There is some truth to the idea of anavar increasing height. Anavar, marketed in the US under oxandrin, is indicated for growth retardation. Anavar was found to be equally effective to growth hormone with less side effects and less cost. It's widely used in Turner's syndrome for this purpose too. It turns out that anavar causes amazing spikes in growth hormone release, yet another amazing property of this amazing drug.
I have done this many times for patients in my practice. Furthermore, my own son had growth retardation (25%-my mom is like an elf . . . ) so we used anavar under supervision at age 8 to bring him to 75%. I wish the pediatrician had made him an NBA player so that dad (me) could retire and just workout!!
The dose was 2.5mg/day for a year. If you go heavier on the dose, the androgenic properties of anavar come into play, and you will fuse the growth plates making you shorter. There was no advanced puberty or other problems. Blood cell counts need to be monitored, but they were never a problem. The only thing is your friend is like 9 years too late for this. You are supposed to be like 7 or 8 years old. It might help a little now, but there can't be much benefit at this age.
Good luck.
hey maj, i'm sure a higher dose would still NOT lead to plates fusing, anavar does not aromatize at all, and its not the androgenic properties of a compound that cuase that, it is estrogen...
