What do you all think? With my education, I would get a higher salary than many... (My law degree wouldn't give me much), but it sounds like it would be more of an adventure than being an attorney... perhaps less rewarding (financially)...

But at the rate I am going at now to get a job, and with the current hirings at the LAPD (as well as OPD and CHP) I could start making a salary relatively soon, rather than working at a legal position that I might despise.

Just looking for some imput... or maybe a way to kill myself if SG responds.

Are you white?
Do you hate all black people?
Will you be willing to beat black people, even if being videotaped?

If you answered yes to all those questions, you may qualify for the LAPD

;)

Citruscide, Is it true that a lawyer today needs to be in the top 2% of there class to be considered to make it as a lawyer? I heard there are so many lawyers and doctors in the world that only the top percent make it?

AAA... Thank you.

It is extremely difficult to get a job as an attorney now a days. People in the top 10% of the gruaduating class of Univerisity of Chicago are not getting hired (UC is top 3 in the nation). I graudated in the top 37% from DePaul... which is maybe, if lucky in the top 75 schools. What chance do I have?

I'm convinced the only way to get an attorney job is to have 5 years experience or to know someone... family friend, friend, or so on... .ONLY WAY.

C-ditty, gonna apply to LAPD and kick some ass. :)

Dont give up that easy! Some people are just book smart, Its how you apply that stuff in the real world that counts! AAA

I've often kept Police service in the back of my head as a good backup plan...

You start out low.. but can advance quickly. Your size will help you, but your brains will help you even more. You get diveristy in your job, you get to help people in many cases, I think it would be rewarding. Financially it can pay quite a bit down the line... Make Detective or Captain... you'd be set.

If you are lucky you can end up like Dezel in Training Day and make millions in drug money.

How would you feel if you were told to take a call and the guy had streroids on him..... would you treat that differently then if he had crack?

he got killed.. but he didn't have a law degree.... CitrusCide wont make the same mistakes.... we'll make sure he sees the movie first so he knows not what to do (ie piss off the homies)

If you are considering law enforcement try the FBI. With your degree, you would be high on their list.
