my gym that im training two women even though there is NO charge at all?

I went thru PT certification and they wanted me to train for them, I turned it down because I don't want to charge and I won't let them profit off of me helping someone reach their goals.

I just picked up two ladies that I will be training with 4-5 days a week, I am not accepting a dime from either of them, doing it for the purpose of me loving to help others. I train with them so actually its just like picking up two workout partners.

I'm sure the manager of the gym will notice beings I spend alot of my time critiquing form and teaching new exercises, and she was a bit disappointed that I didn't want to work for her.

to tell ya the truth i did that at my last gym and they made a huge deal out of it i would tell them nothing and make sure they dont pay you unless the gym knows about it. but i would just make it seem like they are working out with you

well, i made it very clear to both ladies that if asked we train together.

nah if you are not charging then it shouldn't be an issue

these people are extremely weird at times, I have in the course of the 6 years there picked up a training partner but they never lasted long (damn cardio bunnies) LOL. This one girl is very motivated, listens to every word and trust me completely.

The gym has a few trainers now, but honestly i wouldn't trust them to show me how to turn on the damn treadmill.

I maybe feel like because I turned down the offer they will make a huge deal out of it, in which i'll jump gyms in a heartbeat but don't want to leave the girls behind.

Actually, in most gyms, the very fact that you are training somebody else does create both a liability problem...and the staff will get pissed that they arent paying them to train the clients.

Thats my concern, but honestly what differs from me having a friend that im 'training with' as long as im not charging any money?

as long as you told them look were training partners now were just helping each other out because really gym dont like that they like their clients to use their personal trainers and then the personal trainers pay them

In my mind, nothing. In the gyms mind, thats money right out of their pockets.

yea, i agree

and they rape their customers. I don't do this for a living and I can't fathom at this pt accepting money from someone, whilst we are both paying memberships and having to turn around and give them a portion.

Most "trainers" do (or at least what I think), but it is what it is. If they give you a problem, its just a signal to just move on.

Me, I'd be more worried about the client considering you a liabilty if they get injured.

I'm looking into that now, being Im not accepting any money, could they consider theirselves 'my client'?

If they consider themselves as your student, then I'm thinking yes. It's prolly not a problem and I'm being paranoid, but I just wouldn't want you to get sued, CW2 (chicken wing).

Wow. Your "clients". Has a ring to it...;)

Nothing good ever comes from working for free or doing work for friends or family.

Interesting question though, since you don't work for the club you are not obligated, but in the event one of your non-clients injure themselves on one of their machines - your club might just turn around and blame your instruction and since you are not working for club, nor are you a "trainer" just someone training others out of the goodness of your heart I'm not real sure what an insurance company would make of that situtation.
