as a recovering alcoholic/ addict, most of the shit on here is complete BS, maybe it was meant to be...
I poured my last 4 fingers of Jim Beam in a glass at 7:00am, October 3rd, 2000. Got a ride to rehab. I am one of the lucky ones as less than 1% recover.
There is a difference between a drunk and an alcoholic, the main one is: does alcohol cause you problems. If it does and you can't quit, you may be an alcoholic. Although some people are just that hardheaded, they just don't stop. But you can use that test to get a correct answer most of the time, reguardless of what or how much you drink. If you seem to be in trouble at home, work or with the law, and you can't stop, I'd seriously see about getting some help. It's the compulsion that is the determining factor, the compulsion to drink even though you know something bad can and most likely will happen, and you just can't seem to quit putting alcohol into your body.
