Airline question....

...a friend flew into Atlanta a couple of days ago......she was to be here till the 8th of August..then to Brazil and then back to Bermuda.

Something came up and now needs to bump the flight to Brazil up from the 8th till tomorrow or the next day.

The airlines wont let her go stand-by if there is an available spot on an outgoing.



Help?
 
I dont know, shadow since ive never flown on an airplane

can she book a different flight or all they all full?
 
she cant just change it and pay a fee , thats what i do when i fly ,its normalyl like a 125 bucks , but they will should let her change it

just the new ticket to Brazil is 1000 bucks...thent he return flight.


I thought airlines would bump you forward if there were available seats

If she already had a reservation, the issuing airline I believe is responsible for finding the first available carrier to the final destination.

Does booking via internet make a difference?

yea i would if i was you , she already has a reservation , she just needs to change it now
 
What Airline, if it's Northwest, I think I got to Silver Elite last year...I think I can give some of those miles away if it will help.

Apparently there was a restriction on her ticket.

Cont is telling her that she must purchase a new ticket due to the posted rules when the E-ticket was bought
 
i have no idea, but try yelling a lot and threatening
or if it's a woman, well hey...she's dealing with the shadow.
 
Good luck! Is there any chance the two of you can go to the airport and talk to the desk face to face? I've found that to be helpful a couple of time vs being in phone hell or something.

Yeah, it really depends on the airline. I fly Southwest most of the time, and if you're on a restricted fare ticket, you can change your flight if you pay the upgrade cost.

I would imagine international flights are more restrictive.
 
Yes it's all about the restrictions. She must call up the airline and get a detailed list of what those restrictions are. This one varies from airline to airline.

If anything see if they will credit her the cost of the ticket (usually they will), to which she may have a year to use it. Then just book another flight. Surely she will go somewhere else within a years time right?
 
LOL I have an idea
(i got this from the Roseanne show)

call the airport and pretend your "smith" "miller" or "jones" and tell them you want to cancel your flight reservations and then call back as your brazillian friend and book that flight:)
