I was simply suggesting that if a girl/woman were presented with more opportunites (and being given the right to vote was an act which sanctioned the opening up of more *opportunities* for women) , she would be less likely to take the ONLY avenue which may have afforded her a way out of her station (most likely at that time, poverty).
You were the one who quoted a passage about the spike of 14 year olds marrying 70 year old Civil War veterens...I simply stated it was probably before women were given the vote (was it, BTW?), implying it was probably the only viable financial alternative for her. Hell, the girl's extended family probably lived off the old guy's pension...but that was most likely the deal, the dowry.
Oh yeah, my mom's 15 years older than my dad. And I have PLENTY of other examples in my personal family history which mirrors that fact.

Poor women of that era worked just like the poor men....the women could marry rich and the men couldn't. The wealthy women didn't have to work and a dowry is given to a male for marrying a woman.I don't think it's surprising that women can sell their youth/sexuality for material gain to men. Being able to vote is irrelevant....women predominantly, as compared to men, sell themselves to this day and they've had the right to vote since the 1920's. I can count five wealthy men I know that have seriously dated strippers decades younger than themselves.....

Women WITH substantial resources, money (ie made from widening opportunity) wouldn't make the same choices in partners, that's as certain as "old codgers wanting to bang young fillies".
Not sure why you brought up wealthy men dating strippers as if they were choice. Most of them in my part of the world are fat 19 year olds with bad skin. But anywho, to each their own, I guess. Here's hoping your pals get some before they runs out of k.

Younger men are less inclined to want to have kids, therefore the reasoning that younger men view older woman as less likely to help carry on their "name" is from the Neanderthal days.
My b/f will attest to this, most of the men that hit on me are all under 30. My ex is 12 yrs younger than me. His main interest was older women.
The girls I know in their 20's are way more into anal than the women my own age.

it's not even close............those kind of meds are big time money here in the states, which is why pharm companies here get so outraged over generics coming in. People here don't want to fix things, they just want a "patch".

We're living in 2007 and sufferage hasn't opened up the political process for women. Only 16% of representatives are women even though women are the majority of the population, that's why I call it a logical leap assuming it opened up more opportunities. Especially considering the political process is the most direct effect it could have.My assertion is that men are more physically attracted to young women as opposed to older women.
