Its terrible that it has come to this...people being scared to help. Seems like everyone has guns these days. Hell, you can't even flip someone off anymore without being in fear of being shot. You could of been minding your own business and get shot for no reason.

Although I was asked not to go into detail, my conversation with the regional gen. manager yesterday included him emailing me an electronically signed form, which I signed and faxed back. The 3 page form in a nutshell stated in not so many words that JCP agrees to cover my ass 100% should this happen. I brought it to our legal dept. and they verified it to be air tight in my favor and after they spoke with with JCP legal reps. it was found that they and other stores have been sued by people in similar situations that have been sued by the perp. And doing it this way tends to be much more inexpensive and eliminates any bad press they may recieve.

actually a great policy, their work comp insurance won't allow them to permit employees to apprehend criminals. They are usually instructed to let them leave... but if you put the liability in the hands of customers, then make them feel like you have their ass covered, you get unspoken protection... btw you could sue the shit out of JC if you got hurt, unf. the crook could sue the s outta you too, screwed up legal system.
