Accomodating Resistance is the SHIT

First time using WSB stuff today. Me and my friend bought some chain today from home depot and took it to our local gym. After being asked if we meant to harm anyone :D They let us lift. Did Speed squats with 40lbs of chain with 205 on the bar a little over the recommended % but what the hell it was awesome. Then took it to the bench and as I was supposed to be using 20lbs of chain I was quite impressed to do 40lbs accomadating with 185 on the bar it was awesome I love it chains now and forever can't wait to do bands.
 
It is a lot harder than it looks...

even just band tension in the top half of a full squat, can make it feel seriously heavier! It fools the brain. When I take it off the next week after, the wieghts feel so light - I don't always need to go full range tension.
 
yes what a show that was with the chains. i have been having fun with out gym brining in boxes and boards and i am trying to get them to get a glute ham raise and reverse hyper. i am sure me and crazeensleepee will be the only ones using htis stuff but hey. but i had already done my workout so i just did one rep with the chains it was great . i usually do speed work and jump off the floor from the bar speed of almost throw the bar on bench press. i still had the speed but man did the chain slow me down. i liked it. now all i need is the bands but you guys told me to use chains first. :fro: :)
 
I gots pictures and today I plan on taking camera to the gym to film. LoL boy was that bench funny though racked my nuts good trying to get that off my legs ouchies :mix: I think I learned a new saying "Walk softly but carry big chains!"

Total cost was $56 or so. Normally the chain would be 1/2" or 5/8" but as HOME DEPOT was not carrying said BIG chains we made due by using 1/4" and 3/8" chain at 5' lengths of each with 3/8" chain clips and 2.5' of 1/4" for hanging off the bar. Total weight is 40lbs of chain.
 
So I'm at the gym tonight with the chains. I rack up the chains and step over to get myself some bar clips when one of the bench guys comes over to me with the what are the chains for question. I think as my friend OPL says I need to get the WSB shirt so I don't get asked that ever again. Anyways after I explained accomadating resistance to him and he went back to posing in the mirror. I must say squats with Chains=AWESOME I love it didn't bring out the camera because of rain hopefully next week I can make a video.
 
i will be using the chains today for speed bench i will let yall know how it goes after i get home this afternoon. and yes i do need that knew shirt on elitefts with the guy box squatting with bands and on it it says if you have to ask you wouldnt understand;)
 
I have some of the Home Depot 3/8" chain and I just got some 5/8" chain from elitefts and all I can say about the difference in size is WOW! You can fit like 3 of the 3/8 links inside 1 of the 5/8 links. But the 3/8 is still good for adding small increments of weight.
 
Ok well so far I think I've done well with squats and chains. I've done 205 speed 8x2 and 225 8x3 regular both with no problems and extreme comfort. I will say this though chains are loud as hell lol and they like to slam into the rack without telling you. I'm doing ATF to the extreme squats(one time I almost actually fell down ass to the floor that was a close one). Next week I will try box squats with chains and see how that goes. Regular squats though oh man did I feel some burning quads after working with chains. I haven't hand any leaning problems with adding chains to my weights either. I'm going to make a new routine soon I just need to do some more limit testing with these chains as well as make another set of chains and get my friend OPL his band set and play with them.
 
I'm a bodybuilder, but I played around with WSB for a bit. The chains are great as are the bands. Have you tried them yet?

I love all of the info that Louis and Dave Tate provide for us. Being a bodybuilder I thought I new some information, but I learn everyday from reading Louis, Tate, Siff and Zatsiorsky. I think I know a lot and then I realize how little I really know.

Have fun with the chains and just laugh at people. They really do not understand anything like what the WSB do. Also make sure you are doing the box squats right by sitting back on the box and make sure to come up with your hips/glutes and hams. Sorry for the babbling, you probably already know this stuff, but I have to tell myself that when I do box squats too. Good luck.
