About the MTV True Life Show... For The Haters

I dont know what the overall point of this thread was supposed to be, steroids are bad, or MTV rules.

I disagree with both, just my opinion. I feel MTV is just like any other media outlet, and like one of the guys before me on this thread said, if they were to follow, lets say even Jay Cutler, what would they find, a boring show right!?!.

Now, as to debating if steroids are "bad" for you, this debate is WORTHLESS without data. Either side, whether it is good or bad.

I personally am pro AAS. Do I hve research to back it up? No. So I will not go into debating it. BUT, if NJstacked says his health suffered because of AAS, and has all these tests like EKG, bloodwork, etc. to back it up, then he should post that to further stress his point. Anybody can come on here and say "hey steroids gave me superpowers", or "steroids made my skin melt". Without data, the debate will go round and round and will never be constructive and educational. That is when the flaming will start, which it already has.

Good thread though, there are some very valid points here.

I mean... I would love to post all my tests... but I did not request to take them home... nor do I have the time to post them if I did... I posted my blood work last year April I think when I first started having a condition... which was getting worse... I had no good cholesterol left... things have gotten better but... My point was STEROIDS caused it... get checked out and be safe... MTV... my only point was the "True LIfe" programsn that they produce IN MY OPINION ARE PRETTY GOOD... thats it... MTV does not try to give their opinion....

A). MTV is not GIVING HEALTH ADVICE... you have never seen a True Life... they simply interview people and hear their side of living life with whatever the topic happens to be.... They recently did one on Obesity and another one on GUNS....

B). I am sure by supplementing with Steroids you have significantly reduced your lifespan as have I too... you are in denial...

C). I listen to my cardiologist... WHO DID NOT GET HIS EDUCATION FROM BODYBUILDING SITES ON THE INTERNET... but let me guess... he is just feeding the media bs lies... he really has not facts and does not understand how anabolics stress the heart and all your other organs...

My MD just asked me to critique his next cycle-and I didn't go to college 10 yrs. You guys that think Dr.'s are so Godlike crack me up. They put their pants on one leg at a time just like us. Like any other profession, some are better/more knowledgeable than others, but their degree isn't some badge of honor that makes them some all knowing guru. I had a shoulder separation from a wrestling match when I was 17 yrs old. I had 3 different Drs say I needed to go under the knife to fix it or I'd be done with athletics for life. My parents couldn't afford my surgery, so I accepted my injury as fate, started doing recreational drugs instead of competing in sports. After being depresessed and gaining 40 lbs of fat over the next couple of years, I said fuck this and started trying to rehab my shoulder on my own. By age 23 I was bench pressing 500 lbs and competing in bodybuilding shows. If I'd have continued to accept my Dr's bullshit prognosis, I'd probably be dead by now.

Bro... I hear you... I am not saying all Doctors are right or knowledgable... But there was no hiding the fact that my large cycles had an impact on my health... it was a FACT.... because when I stopped and was off for 5 months... my CHOLESTEROL GOT BETTER, MY BLOOD PRESSURE WENT DOWN, MY HEADACHES WERE UNDER CONTROL, I DID NOT SEE "FLOATERS" ... all signs of a possible stroke coming on... my body was stressed...

For me ... I'm glad steroids are available ... and HGH. I'm living a much improved quality of life from a closely monitored plan of supplementation.

I think NJ's strong feelings and discoveries have a place here for learning and application. He knows what he is talking about based on his body and his life experiences.

Another person may find the opposite. That's why we share info ... to discover what is best for us and what we want to do with our bodies.

IMO .... our bodies are delicately balanced and react to the slightest change. IMO ... moderation and a slow, conservative approach to change is best when it comes to your life. Blood tests and physical exams provide us with the data to chart these changes and make progress.

See, I also feel doctors dont know anything about steroids. As crazy as that sounds, FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, which could be wrong and if so I will stand corrected, but not much research has ever been done to give the MD's any data that would provide them with enough insight to tell their patients "hey dude, this stuff kills you". Now, most people DONT go to the internet boards for medical advice, but, when there is not much data out there, how else will you get it...you go to the people who have used it for years, have experience with it, good and bad, and you can draw your on conclusions there.

Now, as NJ said above, he feels MTV gives good opinions. I respect that and would LOVE to have a friendly debat with him over MTV anyday, only because I am VERY anticorporate and cant stand MTV. I have the same debate with some of my friends and girlfriends. I thought the perfect body was a good documentary. Someone said that Anthony was actually on steroids, if that is true, can someone please provide some data on that, I find that interesting.
Now, since have of the bodybuilding community is split on steroids, IN MY OPINION, I think MTV could do better on the steroids issue than what the preview shows. The preview shows the side of someone like NJ who is more anti-AAS. It should be split, show NJ's side, but also show a side of someone who is very healthy and boring.
HBO sports did a piece on the editor of Muscle And Development and a link was posted online here. If you would to mix both of those together, even though I am pro-AAS, it would make for a good show.

BRILLIANT point. K for you.

Depends on how YOUR body responds.
