AAS in baseball

to think that most of these players dont juice is insane. just because they are not open about it does not mean that they dont or have not juiced in the past. i have a few friends that play professional sports and they will all testify that a good majority of them do a good amount of it in the off season.

bonds - juicer

canseco - juicer
the list goes on and on...

i think baseball is much more enjoyable nowadays than ever before.

the players are stronger and hitting balls harder. the fielders are faster, and pitchers are throwing serious heat.

I don't think Bonds, Sosa or McQwire juiced... Here is why. McGwire hit 48 homers as a rookie and he was a beanpole. He lifted weights and built his body up... but nothing that anyone couldn't achieve naturally.

Bonds was always a good hitter, but what he has learned to do in the past 6 years is lay off balls out of the strikezone. No amount of steroids will develop the eye for the strikezone that he has. His patience at the plate is unmatched.

Sosa... maybe he did juice... but I doubt it. He was pretty lanky when he started and he hacked at a lot of horrible pitches when he was younger. It just looks like he just filled out to me and gained some patience.

Also, satch is right. Almost every pitcher now a days throws in the low to mid 90's as a rule. Back in the 40's, 50's 60', 70's there were only a few of those guys... this also makes the ball fly further. Also... more teams with more guys throwing fast cheese. Most MLB players will eat up a fastball quicker than shit. Many of these guys in the big leagues would have been in double or triple AAA in the past.

Another thing that never gets mentioned is that players have switched to Maple bats, rather than Ash (Bonds most notably). Maple is a little stronger, stiffer, and harder than Ash. Combine this with proper training and it is easy to see how some of these records are falling.

Ive been a baseball player all my life, since tee ball. Always loved the sport, in my opinion I dont see anything wrong with it. Juice is something that everyone else COULD do, you could have all the power in the world and not know how to swing the bat, and your ball is going absolutely no where. so as for skill there is still plenty involved. And I just want to close by saying this.

Chicks dig the long ball :)

EVISCERATOR.....

i wasnt there in the locker room to see them sticking, but bonds blew up like crazy style from 1999.

sosa too.

I'm college baseball player and a lot of us juice. It just isn't the hitters, pitchers are gearing also, maybe more than hitters. Steriods arent the biggest problem either "greenies" (speed) are a bigger problem, with worst side effects. What ever it takes to go pro!

Bonds never weight trained before that year... or so he says. Not sure about Sosa... The point is this... Hitting home runs requires a lot more than big muscles. Patience and command of the strikezone are acquired skills. Also... there are a lot of factors that contribute to the records falling as I noted.

If they juiced... I really don't care... Hell... I think every baseball player should have to do a mandatory 12 week cycle per year... but then again... I am not the commisioner.

the reason bonds hits em out is because he uses a light bat.
bat speed is much more detrimental in hitting home runs than the weight of the bat.

he's strong as fuck and can wait that split second longer before comitting to the pitch... THATS HIS SECRET that most dont know.

Eviscerator, you obviously know your shit. I always get a kick out of this question. Steroids Im sure help, but what Bonds did is amazing. The man was intentionally walked 68 times last season and only struck out 42 times! That is crazy. Tony Gwynn said when they played a 4 game series against the Giants, not once was Barry fooled on a pitch the entire series! Again, crazy.......John Smoltz who is todays premier closer gets everyone out with the nastiest split in ball, but who lays off it and always takes him yard. you guessed it..........Bonds. Steroids dont do that. We are talking about a man who takes care of himself and basically still has skills of a 28 yr old, but has the mind of a 39yr old. That is what makes the difference......Yes I do understand alot of ball players juice and it helps some, but some it just hurts. I just dont this should take away from what Bonds has accomplished.........................galaxy
