A quick, good post workout meal.

The only downside to this is the bad carbs if you're cutting. Otherwise the carbs are what you need. This is quick as hell and tastes good and a pretty good meal.

Just make a box of mac and cheese, make it a little in the liquid side, ad two cans of tuna after it's done. That's it.

It's even better with one of those boxes of angel hair pasta with parmesan (sp?) sauce. One box to two cans of tuna. Had that today tastes VERY good with plenty of carbs and protein and not too much fat as the tuna has basically no fat.

A very low fat and healthyier version is to scoop out an avacado and use it to make tuna salad in place of mayo. DO NOT knock it until you've tried it. The avacado is very good for you and tastes surpisingly good. Just put it on a piece of whole wheat toast with a little cheese on top. Good to go.

Edited: after layin back's post. I corrected my carb sentence.

macaroni is high glycemic, perfect for post workout! matt, i will try that.

another good one is to mix a can of tuna with a can of sweet sue chicken and dumplings. tastes great. high sodium but it is quick and easy

tuna in regular mac and cheese huh? I'm gonna have to try that one on monday. Thought that cheese and tuna might come off as a little undesirable but i'll give it a go

if you use the white albacore low soduim its good stuff
even then run water over it with a strainer

I like mixing it with reg boiled elbows
mix tuna and elbows then a dab of low sodium miracle whip
whoola
add a tab of pepper to flavor it

Sounds great. I just meant they're bad carbs for cutting, not for a normal diet. That's what I get for posting at 3:00 AM. Woke up with heartburn again.

You like Albacore? I've tried it, I really don't like that stuff at all. I guess it's an individual taste.

As far as the cheese - it works surprisingly well with the tuna. Give it a go.

So when your bulking are there really few carbs you want to avoid? Sometimes when I am counting caloric intake I get so hungry and I find myself maybe being more restricted than I need to be? I mean as long as I am not eating the fast food all the time and im training hard a few tiems a week I should be able to just hammer down food right? Like I can have pasta and all that shit right lol. I really miss fettichini (spelling) every once in awhile haha.

I'm sorry bro, but water mac and cheese with tuna sounds gross as hell!! lol

The fat would slow down the glucose absorbtion but honestly, I'm not a big advocate of the importance of nutrient timing. I think the body is very adapatable in that regard. Nobody ever made great gains because they timed their meals well.

Best for post workout? No contest, BIG BLAST. Dextrose and hydrolyzed rice syrup with cross filtered whey and super plasma serum. Instant muscle food.

As long as you don't go out of control with it, yes. When bulking you want high glycemic carbs post workout. It gives much of the benefits of injecting insulin without the dangers.

Nelson, I agree with everything you said in this post. I think nutrient timing is a bunch of b.s. myself. Who knows, maybe the mac and cheese with tuna tastes good.

My big problem comes in where every one of your posts turns from informative to an advertisement for PF products. Don't get me wrong. I love Protein Factory products as much as the next guy, and I certainly don't mind seeing a guy make an effort when it comes to getting ahead financially. It's the "other" guy I'm worried about. This is how you get into all the pissing matches with people around here. I would just like to see you hang around without conflict.

Well it may not be for every one bro LOL... Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Remember tho that I didn't mean for this to be a staple in your diet. It's simply a very quick high protein, high carb meal when you're short on time.

As to the fat, it's not low fat, but it's not high fat either. I personally am not one to shy away from some fat in the diet, as long as it's good quality fat.

I think nutrient timing can play a role. Your body can prolly adapt no questions about that but I think you do need at least a little nutrient timing. I dont think its gunna make or break you but I could see it further helping your gains.

hey u just used my name, i better be getting a free bottle of big blast for that

I try to avoid fat in my PWO meal so the mac and cheese gimmick would be a no no.

I usually cook a whole box of Barilla Plus rotini and add two cans of good tuna with olives, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and lite Italian dressing. I break it up into four servings. Each serving has 65g PRO, 67g CHO, and 10g FAT. That's about 600 kcal per serving. The best part about it is that it is easy to prepare ahead of time and its portable.

i always carb load after morning workouts regardless
when you zigzag its good to get the majority of your carbs in the morning

lots of whole wheat grains without the white flower or white sugar
and OATS

It's a tough call. I try to only make a recomendation when it' something I'd suggest regardless to whether or not I designed it, but since I have these products, of course I'll mention them. But not just to mention them. Only if it applies. ( Did that make sense? ) I can't speak for other guys.

I think sometimes the sponsers push a little too hard and sometimes the members can overreact. I can't get too caught up in that. It's a balance and I think most of us get it right most of the time.

Still can't get past tuna and cheese.

Love that big blast bro. I use it every post workout. Wasn't sure if it was the best mix because many believe you need more carbs than protein (like 2:1 ratio) post workout, but it seems to be working for me.

Avocado is a great substitute for mayo. I got this recipe for shrimp salad using avocado in place of mayo. The taste is fucking awesome. Use 1/2 lb. of cooked shrimp, 1 small avocado, maybe a tbsp of mayo if you like, 1/2 red onion sliced in 1/4 in. strips salt and pepper and 1/2 cup cilantro. you can vary the quantities according to individual taste. Give it a try.

not sure i have heard more carbs than protein post workout? I try to get in more complex carbs in pre workout and more protein/simple carbs in post. to me, i feel like i have more energy this way both during my workout and i feel picked back up after.

could be in my head. do most of you guys disagree with going this route?

where you at OMEGA?

iv been eating tuna and cheese for years, whats wrong with you yanks? :)
Nothing wrong with this yank. Love tuna melts with pretty much any cheese.
you just have to go easy on the mayo. Chop up some celery and red onion and add a little white vinegar or italian dressing and salt and pepper, you're good to go.
