a question for the americans...

why are american forces still in iraq? there was no wmd found, and saddam is caught.

isn't it time to get out of iraq?

can someone give me a reasonable answer to this, without calling me the usual European liberal pussy stuff.

Because politicians think gas prices are worth people dying. Unfortunetly I don't see any cheap prices at the pump more than a year into this thing as this whole export mentality seems to be a$$ backwards. I just read is costs iraqis 5cents a gallon for gas but were paying 50 dollars a barrel for petrol

What in the hell are you talking about??? IF the war WAS over oil. Don't you think the price would be LOWER??? The reason it is high is because OTHER countries rely on their oil not the US. So the price is the SAME world wide. And since LOTS of other countries rely on their oil. The price goes up. It's the law of supply and demand.

Seems like everyone hates america for some reason. I think someone already said it. We are the only superpower left. Used to be us and russia but not anymore.

Oil is most definitly an issue. They are now realizing it by subsidizing fuel cell technologies. America, as far as I know, have not made any laws mandating the use of ethanol as a substitute. We have alternatives and are not pushing them. Supplies have not run dry in 8 months, but this war on terror I believe is hurting production thus causing the price to increase. As price goes up then people will become more frugal. Go back and reread what I said and the article as well. You jump the gun

AGAIN, the debate was over whether they had WMD's. They were found. So Saddam having weapons like this to use or sell to people willing to use them was not a "imminent threat" ?????
Not at all.

10 mustard gas shells found in one location from a war fought in the 1980s does not constitute the WMD vesion promoted by the Bush Administration.

That was just one violation of UN Sanctions. There were others. Whether or not we all agree on the asskicking they took is not going to be resolved in this thread. We already tried in the other 234,456 threads about Iraq.
