a board question from me to you

how much of a difference does it make to have the boards held in place by another person ? I usually work out alone, but yesterday i had 2 partners. When i work out alone, i put the boards in between 2 shirts. this does not allow for any "sinking in " of the boards.
when i have a spotter holding them , the boards do sink in.
question - i did not hit a pr, even though i was feeling very strong, coul dthis be the reason ??

It shouldn't really make alot of difference if I'm understanding your question. Your asking if its hurting that the boards are sinking in your chest when you lift right?
I would try to stick with the way you will usually be doing it. If you usually don't have someone to hold the boards always lift that way. You are basically achieving the same thing just with a little different height.
