so i enjoy red wines.
usually spend about $25-$40 per bottle which buys a decent bottle.

the other day i wasnt feeling welll..
just slightly down.

i was cruisin the local mall and found a wine shop.
thought id buy a bottle and the saleswoman got me to raise the ante to $100..

anyhow, came home and opened it..
let it breathe for a few minutes and poured it into my crystal wine glass.

absolutely unreal!

its way too much money for wine but im glad i did it...
now i honestly dont think i can enjoy a $25 bottle again...

What wine and what year ?

try a silver oak... probably only set you back about 60 in a store and is a great buy... so is bv napa cab...make sure made by bvNAPA not bvCOASTAL... only like 15/bottle too. Also a big fan of nebiolas...

I have to tell you that the value of wine is based not on taste but on production, less production the more valuable the bottle.

So you can have a fine wine at $25 or $300 - you just have to know what to pick and if you speak to a wine snob - "it's all about the dirt".

i was in italy for three years and i would go strate to the vinyards and get the bast wines in the world fore like 3-bucks a gallen

One of the fun things to do now, is to search for less expensive wines that share some qualities of the more expensive wines that you like.
Years ago, I lived in Germany for 5 years, and I started a small business running wine tastings for NATO personel on the side. We used to try to end a tasting with an incredible wine. What we tried to show is that while the $20 wine may not have had the depth of the more expensive, it shared some qualities. In my opinion there is nothing like aging to make a wine improve, patience is a virtue.
Just make sure that you are in the right frame of mind to enjoy the experience, nothing worse than having a crapy day that ruins the tasting.

To sum up, drinking and appreciating fine white wines is akin to listening to classical music, drinking and appreciating fine red wines is like playing an instrument in a symphony, it takes more effort but is much more satisfying. :supercool

Have fun.
