8% BF, still no abs!!

Someone please ease my mind here cuz im gonna go crazy. I went from probably like 16% body fat now i just got my bf tested and i have 8%, im about 5'5 and 175 lbs but still u cant see my abs and i dont even really look ripped except for my legs and my forearms which have veins stickin out all over the place. BTW don't call me a newb cuz this is like my 4th account cuz they keep cutting them off lol. Anyways so yeah, any suggestions? Could this be a hell of a lot of water retention? I'm not too keen on cutting out carbs because i dont want to lose muscle. i just started using meta-cell creating powder which is supposedly pretty good but thats not why im retaining water because i was before i started taking that. so anyways yeah! lil input would be awesome

Bro, i was in your same situation 4 years ago...i was at 7%. Sure from far away you could tell i had some abs, but not that ripped 6 pack look either. I dropped like a good 20 lbs of fat too. Unfortunately, you gotta make a choice. Skinny or big, but in the middle? you want ripped abs with alotta muscle. Your average person is gonna need juice. 4 years later, here I am, and now im going to do things right. I will hit a nice dbol / test cycle, and drop caloires like crazy. Taking AS will be the only way to spare muscle and drop all that weight at the same time, if you don't take AS, it will be a while. You'll eventually learn what works for you.

cut the freaking creatine. its function is to make your muscles HOLD WATER, man.

there are other things that you might want to drop or cut back on as they have an affinity to hold onto water -- salt, milk, carbs. Everyone is different, so you have to find out what works for you.

the only other advice i can give you is to start doing weighted abdominal exercises. if you're only doing crunches, you might need to go heavier.

also take into account the fact that you are 5'5... 14 pounds of fat doesn't have that much space to spread out and disperse on a smaller frame, than say someone that was 175lbs, 8% @6'1

superrice is bang on,Im 5'6 and my bf looks higher then someone who has the same bf due to where it spreads out on my short frame

Ok that sucks... Looks like im gonna be having to drop like 4 more % lol....damn, anybody else my hight that actually is ripped here? if so whats ur bf %? I got tested with calipers, so i know its pretty accurate

Remember..everybody is different. Some people carry fat well, others do not and have to get leaner to look ripped. It just takes time. I would like to see your nutrition... That is always the culprit - i don't care what anybody says i will always believe this is so. Really its all a matter of what you want. If you want to be lean and muscular - you have to live your life eating and training to achieve this goal. Also, its hard to have others assist you if you don't put up some nutrition information. Help us to help you, take care. - QSS

K, this is what I have eaten so far today

meal 1- a slab of very lean roast been, 25g of protein, bout 1 g of fat
meal 2- powerbar protein bar - 25g of protein, 30g of carbs
meal 3- Heavy on Ham and turkey sandwich w/ a slice of jalepeno cheese, veggies and mustard on wholewheat bread
meal 4- half a plate of pasta noodles w/ steak and tomato sauce
meal 5 will be after the gym tonight, a 6 inch sub from subway, ham and chicken on honey oat bread w/ bbq sauce, approx 40g of protein, 50 g of carbs and 10 g of fat.

This is my every day eating style. I don't eat too much at once, hardly ever over 500 calories a meal but no less than 5 meals a day

yeah, in my experience, that would not be enough (well, depends how big the roast beef and bowl pasta is). you're supposed to be getting at least your bodyweight in grams of protein, since you're bulking, probably more, and IMO, the powerbar isn't a meal. at least have some milk with that.

my experience with powerbars are that they are just snacks, sugar bars, like oh henry. never believed in power bars, never will. for energy, i'll go with a bag of skittles or sour keys (hey, i'm still a kid hah), and around half a carton of tropicana.

basically all i'm saying is that the powerbar isn't a meal.

ooooh shit right right. sorry man, got the threads all confuzzled.

i'm not a big guy by any means, and i'm blessed with a quick as hell metabolism, so have yet to hit a cutting cycle. i'd imagine myself jumping back to eating two or three larger meals and cutting the calories. nothing too drastic though, for me anyway.

the powerbar still bothers me. maybe you could replace it with a block of cheese or some spicy beef jerky. yummm. power bars suck

i know nothing about milk spefically holding water, but i know everytime i have a glass of milk i'm bloated to hell and the abdominal definition goes with it

to be honest, I have a very hard time believing you are 8% with that diet.....how did you get tested? powerbars are nothing but complete junk, noodles are more than likely enrighed or even worse white, bread is more than likely loaded with hydro. oils, and subway??? Not even going there.........sorry man, but you diet is nothing to write home about.............

:p you know, they say milk helps with confusion, disorientation, etc....SC~ maybe you should grab a nice big glass........

Man........I could REALLY go for a fat PB&J.....craving!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet I could knowck of 3................or ANPB anf banana.................mmmmmmmmmmm

This is why you can't see your abs.

Meal 1, looks fine, could use more protien though, and perhaps some brown rice, oats, or fiberous veggies.

Meal 2, power bars are loaded with bad carbs -- its fine to have one of these PWO, but not as a meal

Meal 3, I would ditch this entirely in favour of a nice chicken breast with a bed of rice.

Meal 4, pasta is murder while cutting. Even whole wheat stuff is high GI. Steak is fine though.

Meal 5, your PWO, should be a drink.. preferable whey protien with some sugary carbs.

Meal 6 (I added this -- about one hour after your shake) should be a good dose of protien, and maybe some fiberous veggies, or 1-2 tbsp of pb.

milk?
how so?

yes...indeed. I have not had dairy in my nutrition for about 7 years now since i'm "weaned" - LOL. Get rid of the milk if you can. Myabe instead try rinsed skim cottag cheese in your oatmeal or blended in a protein shake. If your interested in some radical nutrition change - PM me.

Thats Not A Diet Theres Enough Sodium In There For 4 People If You Really Want To Know If Its Water Your Holding Drink 1.5 To 2 Gallons A Water A Day And Take Some Dandellion Root And Drop The Lunch Meats If Your 8%bf You Should Have Some Abs At Least A Little Visible

My abs are a bit visible, just not to the extent I would like. Hey, I gotta work during the day so I can't exactly bring in a nice plate of chicken breast and rice and blah blah blah, I have to have something quick. Seriously you think my diet is that bad? I don't do the powerbar thing very often... I guess heres a pic of me if u want to see

Im a little more cut than that now but still don't have the shredded abs like i would like.

What the heck does that mean...everybody has to work during the day. Yes you can bring good nutrition to work with you. It is easy if you plan it, cook in bulk an put everything in tupperware. I ate 7 meals a day last year getting ready for Jr Nat's - i travel with my job so it is even more difficult. Generally if you can keep things cold in a cooler (easy) you've got it made. Like i said, if you really want some help or ideas - let me know (PM)

you're not alone, dude. i'm like 7% body fat and i still want to improve. i can see my top abs but the bottom ones are not as visible as i want. will keep at it 'til i get there (< 5%), but it definitely isn't easy!

If you at least have a microwave at work, you can bring your own food. If no fridge use a cooler. Spend 2 hours +/- on sunday cooking chix breasts, mixing tuna, etc for the week, use a crockpot to make beef & veggie "stew".......just cuz you have to work is not an excuse for a poor diet.....
