72-Y/O Woman Tasered by Austin Deputy

On the one hand I could see the officer's frustration with her non-compliance of simple instructions, especially when it endangered his life. She was also clearly using her age to think she was above compliance. When she dared him to tase her that was sorta over the top. But the cop should have known better than to threaten to tase her in the first place. Empty threats make for NO authority. He was being a doucheknucle but she DID ask for it. :whatever:

Cop asks me to sign a ticket. I sign the ticket.

Cop asks me to step out of a car. I step out of a car.

Cop asks me to jump, if it doesn't endanger my life, I say, "How high?"

I dunno, I saw the 20 second clip in the link, so maybe I'm missing something. She was belligerant for sure, but he stomach butted her, hawked over her, and screamed like a staff sargent. Sorry, but I think tasering a woman that age, in those circumstances, was excessive.

That is because, my lily white friend, have not been subconsciously burdened with 400 years of institutional, emotional, social, cultural and moral ill by the white dev....ohh who am I kidding? Somebody shoot this fucker.

LOL@DT

The cop was a dope because he threatened it in the first place. Once you pull that bad boy out, you'd better be 100% prepared to use it WITHOUT a media shitstorm.

So what type of force is appropriate with a belligerent old woman who refuses to comply and is jeopardizing your safety?

Police are trained to take charge of a situation with authority right from the get-go. They're not supposed to be nice or polite.

I see what you are saying but I have been pulled over way more times than I care to admit in the state of Texas. EVERY SINGLE COP has been BEYOND POLITE AND NICE. As they were handing me the ticket they always said, "You have a nice day ma'am."

3 speeding tickets doing 40 in a 30/25 and I learned how to activate cruise control REAL FAST. 'Course that don't help when you have expired inspection sticker. LOL

I would NEVER be beligerent with an officer of the law. NEVER. And this is after I have had my family PERSONALLY mishandled by police, we are talking my tiny 105# 15/12 year old since she was 12, every time she was BEGGING FOR HELP. She had been shouted down, man-handled, talked to in a degrading fashion, etc, etc, etc all because she wouldn't take back her declarations that her father was abusing her.

So if I can remain calm when a cop pulls me over then I am thinkin that the old lday could try and keep herself in check. No? I mean the police are the ones with the gun afterall, aren't they?

And when the officer says, "We can just forget about this ticket if you just take care of the kid" zzzzzzzzip?

That might endanger HIS life. I'd have to pass. I mean, I wouldn't want to be responsible for the maiming/death of a civil servant. :verygood:

Besides unless we are talking the chair, how bad could the penalty be for ANYTHING I was doing? A bj to get out of a ticket, not hardly. ;)

She was asking for it.

That's not what defines whether someone gets tased or not.

Deputy is gonna get fired and city is gonna lose millions out of this. He simply could've waited for backup and if 2 grown men can't take a 72 y/o woman to the ground without killing her, they have no business being cops. Her attitude is irrelevant. Tasers aren't issued as 'attitude controls'. Feel free to lookup when tasers are supposed to be used.

People have died from tasers. Imagine if she had died 3 hours later what the article would've said.

I bet these are five words that the incorrigible bitty will NEVER use again:

"Go ahead and tase me."
