700lb squat on smith machine



Okay, so it isn't me squatting, but I am the spotter.

He mentioned that they supposedly changed the rules for some meets to the smith machine instead of free bar. I prefer free bar, but my best was 465 many years ago.

in a meet i did over 500 with just knee wraps and a belt, no sauce either.
i'm good at squatting but i'm worried something bad will happen so now i never go over 275
 
I'm working up slowly. Very slowly. I am just now doing reps of 8 at 235. Full reps. I am tyring to strengthen all of my ligaments and tendons so that they are as strong as my muscles. Most important when on the sauce. Muscles get strong quick, but tendons/ligaments don't!
 
you mean otomax? I hate that shit. I wear my combat boots when I squat.
 
well i don't know anyone else that would get under 700lb smith machine or not.
 
i'm not sure i would without being in top conditon.
 
Only reason I ever use a smith is so I don't have to worry about a spot on bench. I will never ever ever ever ask a dude for a spot and I do not want one. Ever. I do not want random junk that close to my face for any reason.

Yet some guy felt the need to offer, mid set tonight, because apparently my putting moderate effort into a lift meant I needed a superman save.

I snapped at him and was bitchy because he basically ruined my third set.

I like not having a spotter on tougher lifts because it makes me concentrate on my form and correct movement.
 
I usually have a spotter standing by for safety.

Basically.

I was putting in some effort to the last set but I was by no means struggling to the point of needing a save. Blatant attempt to hit on me. My boyfriend is ready to commit a crime of passion on this guy.

It's not a logical thing.

I should have clarified, it's not that I think I'd ever want or need a spot. It's a matter of my being a pretty girl and trying not to give guys an excuse to interrupt my workout.

I don't ever need a spot (I sure as shit didn't need one tonight), but i always figured doing bench on a smith would keep the creepers away. It did, till tonight.
 
smith machine is not a joke.

That was a lot of weight, but he didn't go all the way down.

Yea cool bro I was just asking I knew you had a better look at it than the video showed. I agree with you, all these smith machine nah sayers, need to crawl under that 700 and tell us how easy it is on the smith compared to free weight.
 
The only difference i find is you don't worry about your balance. On a free bar that can easily lower your max by 100 lbs or more

woah? for real? like a back injury? what is your rep/set/rest scheme like for squats? what about deads, u go heavy on those? leg press?

my main worry is tripping on the walkout.
i've never had steady access to a mono0lift...over 4 plates on each bar-end i get real wobbily...be easy for something disatorous to happen...and if my body is fuct i can't work and make a living.
and lately for squatting (been a slow squat summer) i have been doing 5*8 with ligher-esque weights.
and dl and legpress i haven't gone below 5 reps in a minute...not worried about injuries from that though, really only freeweight squatting
 
I just can't wait till the tops of knees aren't sore. They are getting there, but it sure sucks the life out of squatting.
