Hello everyone. So as i reckon from your view that i have read, the 5x5 Starr program is mainly for strength and not so much for a bodybuilder look or even a lean beach body look.

I am thinking of doing 5x5 from September till January in order to gain some strength and what abour later? Is there a training program that you can reccomend like evereone is recommending Bill Starr's 5x5 when it comes to strenghth? Is there another "bible" :) program for those that what something else instead of 5x5 all the time? I am doing now a combination of 5x5 core exercises and 2-3 more isolated exercises

e.g Monday i do Bench Press 5x5 and then superset cable flies+Low incline DB presses+Decline Press 3x10

Tuesday i do Squat 5x5 and then superset Lying Harmstrings+Lunges+calves 3x10

Thursday i do Bent over Row 5x5 or Deadlift 5x5 then superset open grip pulldown+seated rows 3x10

Friday or Saturday Military Press 5x5 Superset Incline Raises+Close Grip shrugs+Behind the back shrugs

All these with usual cardio HIIT etc This is the program i use the past 3 months for cutting and is working i can say. I am finishing it End of june.

Now I just want to know if there is a training program to start from January onwards because till January as i mentioned before i will be using Bill Starr 5X5.

Thanks

Where did you hear that ignorant myth?

If you actually read the 5 x 5 madcow website you would have read the part on caloric intake and good training.

There is no one program that is for "the beach body" or "bulking". good training is good training, if you eat enough calories you will grow, if training is good most of that weight will be muscle. If you eat less calories then you burn you will loose weight, if training is good when you loose the weight you will keep most of your muscle and strength.

Getting the "beach body" is all about diet, nothing about the "program" you are on.

This program is nothing more than the crap you see in the BB mags one body part/ week type program with the term "5 x 5" thrown in there.

There's DC training and FST-7 or something like Westside template for bodybuilding, or HST those are pretty decent programs Christian Thibadeaux also has nice programs with specialization and periodization...

But for now you are better be doing the 5x5, it's the best for most of us and once week bodypart programs are mostly horseshit!

PM me if you need some routines.

this is true for the most part but there is difference in training. if you do nothing but core lifts at mostly low rep sets you will be at a serous disadvantage no matter how low your bf. the higher rep iso lifts add peak better than anything else. to be stage ready at a more advanced level you need a lot of peek on a large thick muscle. suqats and deads are not going to cut it pre contest.

djeclipse is right.

dude, if you follow the 5x5 like you're supposed to, there's no way you won't put on size squatting 3 times a week!!! And be sure to eat a lot of food (mainly protein).

Just go read madcow's entire website.

Thanks guys for your opinions. What i didnt mentioned is that i have found out for Madcows/Starr training 1 month ago when i started being a regular reader of EF. I really like the program and i look forward on performing it. I decided to start though on September when i will be starting the bulking cycle so i can eat large amounts to get bigger beacuse now where i live is summer with already 40 degrees celsius and i started going to the beach so i eat clean as much as i can.

What i wanted to ask and it didnt come out correctly is, the madcow program is used only for bulking or i can perfrom it from September till summer and just adjust food and calories for the summer time? Or is better to use it for 4-5 months get strong and then start a new training that will help more for summer period?

bulking and cutting are factors of your diet. Eat more to bulk, eat less to cut. Cut out carbs except for in the AM and post w/o. Changes like these in your diet will put on or take off fat/weight.

Change your diet and do the 5x5 and you can get ripped. Guys switch their training during cutting because they usually don't have the energy to lift as heavy because of the reduced caloric intake. They usually decrease intensity (weight) and increase volume a bit. But again, it's because of their DIET.
