i still dont get it. i've been looking at all the 5x5 threads etc but none say why the 5x5 is better to a simple 2x12. Wouldnt a 2x12 be just as good if u increased the weight every so often??

honestly, you would do well to read all the information "stickies" at the top of this forum and the powerlifting forum. It will give you alot of info to digest instead of just a "do this" type idea. when you get to understanding the programs, you'll see that your trainer is taking the easy road in just prescribing a rep range and throwing you at machines. its safe and easy....for her. you'll see that the journey is one where you never stop learning, but may as well start now by finding a program that YOU think sounds fun and you understand.
