30 year old scotch

So,

last night I popped the top on one of several 30+ year old bottles of scotch that I own. Unfortunately, I didn't have any last night.

Tonight, all I have to say is WOW! Balvenie 15 and 21 year are good, but gawd damn! The 30 year makes them pale in comparison. This even beats Lagavulin for taste, and I love Islay's.

Anyone else a scotch aficionado? If so, list out your favorite distilleries.

man the smell of scotch is so nauseating...I appreciate good booze and beer, but scotch just is nasty.

Scotch Whiskey is an acquired taste. I picked it up in the military, along with many other uncouth habits. I do enjoy German beer, and good Kentucky Bourbon too.

I'm more of a clear liquor drinker...good gin is my number one pick. If somehow we met and you broke out the 5th of good scotch i would learn to enjoy it. Bush Mills I drink on occassion, good whiskey

Mr. Bushmill and I have a long, and painful history. I'm sad to say that, as good a chap as he is, and as good of friends as we once were, his very odor now makes me want to vomit.

Tell you what, we ever do meet up, I will make sure to have one of my best bottles handy.

Hmmmmmmm, a woman of refined taste. ;)

Try a good single malt with a splash of distilled water

LOL
I like red wine too but this thread is about drinking scotch so I will keep it on topic.

The single malt would be very strong wouldn't it? I tried a very good quality scotch in Scotland. Wow, my mouth nearly caught on fire. :redhot:

Yasmina, like I said before it is an acquired taste. A good single malt, when drank by one who is versed in the complexities of good scotch whiskey, is almost as good as sex. Note, I said almost.

rsnoble, thats nothing to be ashamed of.

I acquired a taste for scotch at around age 9. When I was dropped off at grandmas for the weekend she would give it to me. Liked it ever since.

Wow, I'm speechless. Sounds a lot like me. :worried:
