3 double chocolate chip cookies from Subway post workout?

Good or bad? On the walk back to my office from the gym I pass subway and find it hard to resist. I accompany them by chugging a 55g protien / 4g carb powder mixed with just enough water to get it down.

Fuck.

Why can't anything taste good! Why does everything I have to eat require cooking or be tuna or junk! Why is water the only thing I can drink? No good fast food, no pizza, no fried chicken, nothing but no-salt pasta cooked for 7 minutes, tuna, chicken breasts, apples, and a few slices of wheat bread. I'm loosing my mind. Damnit.

Ok, rant over. Sorry for being such a pussy there for a minute. Sometimes I just loose it. I'm just out of apples and the chicken breasts are not done defrosting.

maybe you could drive faster to make the temptation period shorter? :)

Even if you were not working out, that stuff isn't good for you! Do you want to be one of the million people in America that is overweight. You should thank yourself for not eating that stuff.

A trick I use to keep myself away from commercially baked goods is to peek at the label, because literally all of them, I don't care how upscale a place they come from, will read "partially hydrogenated oil," and usually "high fructose corn syrup" as well. If there's not a label, just remind yourself that the trans fat at the very least is in there. I just tell myself that while it is okay to indulge once in awhile (or hell, all the time -- depending on your goals), but it's not okay to gobble up trans fats and risk my health down the road. If you must eat a cookie or twelve, go ahead. But make them yourself from scratch and be mindful of what kind of butter or margarine you use. ;)

i thought about 100million people were overweight....thats about 1/2 of our population. theres like 8million people in la county...i think ive seen 1million fat people there alone :)

It's more like 1/3 of our population (300 mil, roughly, in the US). However, it appears to be 99% of the people at the mall.

anyway, thanks for the moral support. I shall resolve to have my capful of light salt peanuts as a snack, or maybe an apple, and f the cookies.

add a cheat day to your diet.... it will help in more ways than one.

I wouldnt eat the cookie post workout... fats just get in the way then...

its not that bad, the cookies have a lot of high GI carbs which u would eat neway in your post workout drink

well that's why I said "post workout." Just some quick sugar.

I really don't have an alternative other than the mass drinks or the bread from my tuna sandwhich.

If you want quick sugar you are better off drinking a soda which is loaded with corn syrup. 3 cookies is never a good idea, even when bulking. Cookies have fat in them which slows absorbtion, so even postworkout they are worthless. Buy some dextrose and use it postworkout, or buy powdered gatorade which is mostly dextrose, and tastes better, I mix it with Prolab Creatine, cause they use Creapure. Also what's they point of drinking a Protein shake that has only 4 grams of carbs when you eat 3 cookies with it, you could buy a protein shake that already has carbs in it. It would probably be healthier than what you've been doing, and it should taste much better too.

How about just eating ONE cookie? You'll get the slight GI/insulin spike to drive the nutrients into the muscle cell. The fat in the cookie will slow down absorption somewhat. Assuming that you are pounding 55 grams of whey, slowing part of that down, should help your body handle it better anyway. Moderation is key. One cookie is OK. More than that is not OK.

Its those secret Subway cookie additives that bring down grown men and women into quantity eaters over quality. I knew that their sandwhiches tasted funny (additives).

Don't lose hope.

It's far better than eating nothing post workout but definetely not an ideal selection. If it's the cookies or nothing, I say eat the cookies, but I'm sure you can come up with something more sensible to eat.
