I see alot of posts about gynecomastia, and I hope this helps some suffering from the condition.
I developed gynecomastia at about the age of 13 or 14, pubertal gyncomastia often disappears with adulthood. In many cases (mine included) it remains static, and can be made worse with the use of an aromatizable androgen. My first use of the substances was 500mgs of test per week with 10mgs of d-ball per day, I did not use an antiestrogen and my gyno got quite bad. I tried every prescription and supplemental antiestrogen in an effort to minimize the problem, but to no avail. I knew then that surgery was the only option.
In the U.S. the average gyno surgery runs between $4500-6000. Insurance will not cover cosmetic surgey, and I did not have this type of money to shell out to correct the problem. I saw on 60 minutes that many americans go abroad for plastic surgery, so I began to look at this as a possibility. My research led me to a plastic surgeon named Dr Jaime Caloca across the border in tijuana. I went in for a consultation with Dr Caloca and was quoted $2300, this included anesthesia. I knew Dr Caloca had a good rep from another board, so I decided to go for it.
On the day of the surgery I paid the $2300 (Dr Caloca only takes cash) and then went in the operating room. I briefly met the anesthesologist before he put me under, and a couple hours later I was awake and the gyno was gone. Dr Caloca prescribed some antibiotics and pain killers (I did'nt need the pain killers) and I was on my way. Dr Caloca informed me that rest was vital, and that if I did not rest for thefirst 2-3 weeks there would be bleeding. I did as he said, and there was no bleeding. I did not workout for about 4 weeks after the procedure, but this actually provided a needed rest from my training.
If you can't afford a domestic plastic surgeon look south of the border or overseas. Just do your research, check their credentials, and talk to some of their past patients. I can't tell you how good it feels to put on a t-shirt and not worry if my gyno will show. My surgery was 7 months ago and things are looking pretty good. Good luck to everyone out there facing this problem.
