in HS bench is an exciting and testosterone boosting to determine strength/athleticism.. everyone gets wiled up and pumped and gives each other high fives when doing maxing

Sounds like you are doing gay stuff with your friends.
 
yea you all can bench it 15+ times, but can you jump 30+ inches and run a 4.6 or lower and squat 500+

bench is such a worthless exercise to determine strength/athleticism

doing 8 moar reps than everyone else at your position is significant

it may knot directly correlate with football performance, butt will open eyes that previously considered him as "under sized"
 
I've banged out 40 reps with 225, it was actually 41 because I gave him a one to grow on...My friend called bullshit so I did it in his presence....I have freakish muscular endurance in the upper body..Maybe it was all the push-ups and other body weight exercises I did in my wrestling conditioning.I agree with other posters, the metrics are just wrong about predicting performance based on upper body strength metrics..

I do tons of bodyweight pushups and weighted/banded push ups, i dont bench barbell i usually use a swiss bar and i can do good numbers with the neutral grip on that bar.
