2 Weeks from the World BP in Mass!

Hey all;

It's been a while since posting here, but it's good to be back. Actually it's good to have the time to read and comment again!

Anyway I am 2 weeks out from the World bench press comp in Mass. I have hit new PR's during this training cycle! I have gone from a PR of 360 in my last meet, may 3, to 425! Double denim makes all the difference in the world!

I unfortunately had to go easy the last 2 weeks due to a stressed tendon, but it feels much better now! 5 more bench days till the comp, I WANT 435!! That should put me in the top 3 I think, in the 220's. Maybe not a 1st place finish but a new state record for me as wel as a sub-masters record and a PR!

Wish me luck!

Thanks to all but I have bad news.....Still not sure what happened but I think I was just too long on the chest. I came down to high and between the double denim and wrist wraps I think my hands went numb. I was on the chest, or just off of it, for what seemed like forever. When I got the press command I blew it up, 415 my opener, and it came down as fast as it went up. The spotters missed it and it took my clean in the chest, bounced 1 time and the spotters got a hold of it. A ride to the hospital, cutting the shirt off me, (ouch...), and 8 mg of morphine later the x-rays showed NO broken ribs or internal injuries of any sort! I took it high on the chest and the bar rolled foreward. If it had rolled backwards....on the neck.

So to put it another way I am still a little sore, 2 weeks post, benching 280x5 that was all I could manage before it started to hurt. I guess I am going to have to pass on the December meet and hold off till the full power in the spring. Ahh well...I wanted to trim up for florida anyway, I guess I'll start a little early with the ckd!

Thanks again to everyone who posted. BTW I did not train MM style, I guess I don't follow any real "style". Not westside, MM or anything else. I followed Joe Ladners power program in an issue of Monster Muscle, that was about it!
Later...."B"
