2 More Soldiers Dead and 3 injured...7/31

It was an invasion and occupation. The people killing soldiers are normal Iraqi, not Saddam's people. You have to be an idiot to believe that Saddam supporters actually believe that he will come back...but then again be both know how bright you are.

dude prove to me that all those iraquis who have recently killed GIs were not saddam supporters. then again, dont prove it to me since you mostly reply with asinine remarks

...bathe party lol

As a responsible leader, I would have not supported Saddam in the first place. That point is moot, so I would not have attacked Iraq, but rather had the UN ransack the country until Saddam could not take it any more and kicked out the inspectors (which would had allowed half of the world to rain down fire on Saddam).

If I took over right now, I would remove all personal that had any support for the Bathe party. Then I would create a parliment of people voted in by the people to be the top advisors to the internationally headed occupation team.

I think you have some valid points, but I think the UN really would have never done a thing. They are a very ineffective bunch. Also, the support for Saddam was more of a choice of lesser evils at the time with the whole Iranian hostage crisis... etc.

Prove that they are supporters. You cannot. You can only parrot what big brother has told you to think.

Saddam was never a good choice. He was always a patsy in the region. That is why he was a dictator. He had 114 countries (including the US and Israel) on his side and he still lost land in the war with Iran.

The UN did do something. It was called Desert Storm. All you needed to do was wait and the UN would have jumped on board. They just needed a better reason than "Saddam tried to kill my daddy."

In some ways I agree, but Saddam wasn't stupid. He played the game very well. He would do just enough to placate everyone. I think Bush realized the mistake his father made back in Desert Storm by signing the cease fire. They really left the Shiites and the Kurds out to dry in that conflict... most of them paid with their lives. I agree that Bush wanted this and was very agressive in getting it done. He could have played the UN game, but I think, unlike Clinton, he is more willing to take chances. This can be a good thing... or his undoing.

This is about destroying morale, not body count.

The soldiers already do not know why they are there or when they will leave. Slowly killing them off is about tearing them down psychologically.
this has been covered in another thread, bottom line, they weren't drafted

exactly. when people join our military, they join knowing that there is a chance of them dying. the media makes a big deal about soldiers' deaths. unfortunately, death may be a part of the job- live with it and stop bitching about it

Ok, I kept quiet long enough.
We don't even watch CNN over here. Fox tells it like it is. Yes, they are Pro-conservative, but you see what the alternative is.
In my AO, all of our contacts are criminal elements, not Saddam supporters or Baath party.
There are folks from all over the world here. Now. & have been for some time. No, they haven't taken over, but they're assisting.

No one here wants or accepts the death of any soldier. When you're in my seat, there's no such thing as acceptable losses. These are our friends & coworkers. That's the reason we keep doing our job, 'cause our buddy's life depends on it. I'm not taking any of it lightly. I can't afford to. It may be your son or daughter or brother or sister or mom or dad in that convoy my guys are protecting. (OK 2thick, I know that's not grammatically correct, but get my point?)

It's easy to monday morning quarterback this to death. All I ask is that you support the soldiers, sailors, airmen, & marines who are over here doing their jobs, regardless of your views on the political situation, or your military strategy expertise.

Of course I want this to be over & come back home. We all do. We can all sit back & have a brew & talk about the good things when that happens. Until then, keep us in your prayers and lift heavy or go home!
