Post some pics and let me see what you are working with... I might just get somebody to work with you on your training and contest prep.

your stats really dont sound that far off for you being 18
jaycutler was 5'9 at 225lbs 8%bf back in 91 for his first show
he lost to a leaner smaller and more symetric guy that was 185lbs

as far as your ability to grow and bulk up ?
Thats only part of the equation your ability to carry the muscle in the right areas and be symetric is also going to play the biggest factor.

For example lots of guys out their in gyms all over the country that are 5'10 250lbs +
but just dont have the shape to compete.

But don't let anyone ever talk you out of it.Just be realistic in your goals.

While I agree that a lot of advise here comes with good intent, I am rather dissapointed in the negative response in general shown to a young man who has taken a very big decission to follow his dream. How many of you are pro bodybuilders? What you seem to dismiss is the fitness industry encompasses a huge variety of directions that can be opened up to someone with a passion for this. This is a service industry with tremendous potential for growth in the next 10-20 years mainly due to the aging poulation & lack of physical activity among the general public & its associated spinoff into general health.

Again with the bottom line. I would have to agree with him on this point.

There is a very dark side of competitive BBing.

The life of an IFBB pro is NOT all that it is cut out to be, especially if you never make it as Mr. O.

Very few make a lot of money.

The competitive BBers I know who have done really well for themselves do so by

1. Owning gyms (and then most of them still do PT work)

2. Being educated and have the ability to write/do research into supps etc

3. Become trainers to other competitive BBers

I know one of the natural Mr. Universes.

He now works as a personal trainer in London.

There is a very strong link with the porn/sex trade industry in BBing.

Know your limits and what you are prepared and not prepared to do.

Personally, I think even going the gym/PT route would do my head in, I spend enough time in the gym with my own training, and I LOVE it.

Too much of the same thing would ruin it for me.

I also know of a lot of people who have gotten their pro cards in the nattie feds and IFBB and don't do a lot with them, as it is EXPENSIVE to compete.

Really? What kind of connection? Can you elaborate on this
