1000lbs leg press today

Credit where its due bro.........good job....keep it up....keep the viddys coming, always great to be able to see your progress.

BTW.....still prepping for a contest?

Awesome lift bro!!! However, too deep for that kind of weight. Did your lower back start to round off or move from bringing your legs that far deep? Awesome lift bro, but when you start getting to a grand or more, as soon as your quads get deep enough to begin moving the lower back up in the seat, too much.

i had done squats previous to that so i was kinda dead. I did warm up with 800 for 8 reps though.

good job!
I still after 4 heavy squat sets, go for 3 sets in the press with around 600 for 8-10 or even 12 reps depending on the mood. At least in my case, gives me strength, size, shape and definition. :)

Great job mate . !
Brad.

nice work
I find that the leg press machines at every gym are different some higher then others some allow different foot positions.
Thats alot of weight for anyone on any machine so credit is def due.

Some machines I can do what is 1000lbs then we have a leg press in our gym called the "ego crusher" becuase its angles higher and the platform for your feet tilts so the toes are lower then the ankle tilted away from you(rather then most machines the toes are higher leaning towards you)and I cant even do 500 for reps on a good day.
I guess some of it does depend on the leg press itself

600 is a far cry form 1000!! why does everybody always have to say "ohhh if you did it my way you'd be better" "if you did it for more reps then it would be good" sounds ridiculous!! you shoulda just stuck with the first sentence from your first post!! if he was asking for ways to improve his training... by all means!! but he was just postin some video on the progress he's making and hit one of his numbers!!

back to the origuinal topic.... excellent work b_light!! you hit those pretty solid for three reps and after squats... you could definitley go higher!!!

though I think they were a lil deep tbh once you go past a certain point there is alot more strain on your knees than it is worth IMHO!! you can hit them just as good without goin quite so deep.. I'm only talkin a few inches btw!! just be careful bro... you don't wanna end up with bad knees!! but again.. good work!!

Fuckin awesome bro! I had a 1,400 lb leg press in college... I am lucky to get 800 now.

Maybe I am seeing things wrong. But, the first couple reps looks like you are hyper extending. With that Kind of weight I would be hesitant to lock out until last rep...

nooooooooo no no no, it must just look that way in the vid but i never lock out my knees on leg press no matter what the weight. Learned that very early when i was still a runt.

yeah nice job bro. I thought it was funny that on youtube there was the link to Ronnie lifting 2300lbs right next to your tiny 1000.. HAHAH.

So do you find it easier doing 1000 pounds on that leg press (the rocking leg press) vs. the sliding leg press (like the one Ronnie was doing)??

I personally, like the rocking one better - it seems more natural vs. the sliding one.

yes, deep enough IMO

i have been following your threads and you are making outstanding progress, hats off

good luck in your strongman

are you still hurting a bit from some lagging calf injury as well?

The calf is doing good as are my forearms i just noticed i havent been complaining about them, lol. I think the GH is doing the trick!

I gotta say that your video made me wanna try a G, so I did today. And I did it 4 times.

But if i didn't tape it, it didn't happen right? :)

But seriously, I went up to 10, 45's on each side, so 900lbs then. Close though.

Damn b- , you are a freaking monster, you know im in week 3 of prop, but by god, i dont think i will ever end up a monster like you even if i went 200 weeks on the cycle.

Great job man! Good luck with your storngman contest, if you need any help fighting off the chicks after you win, call me!

I'm just happy i hit a new goal of mine, well not really a goal but its something to be proud of. 99.9% of your average gym go'ers will never come close to that weight. Sure i'm not the biggest or strongest im just posting up my progress to see how im doing so take it as you want to.

i aint pissin on anyones parade but is 1000lbs considered alot to leg press?

i am genuinely interested in peoples opinion on this

For the average gym go'er, YES. For powerlifters, No, not really.

sure it is for some.

im more interested in numbers on deads, squats, and free weight stuff. never been a fan of the machines.

b_light, i am in no way trying to detract from your achievement, its good to see you are proud of it, as you should be - i am just interested in peoples opinion

what weight you sitting at?

when you press in the fashion you do, do you feel much pressure in your knees? - i could not go as deep as you, my knees will not take it so i dont go past 90 degs

No, my knees never hurt even from squats unless i go wayyyy far past parellel. I usually go just a little more then parallel on squats and leg press i go down that far because its as far as i can go before i hit the saftey.

No - it is not, IMO of course (coming from a Weightlifter/PL'r). It is about the same as a 200lb oly back squat. It is nothing impressive - my wife can sled 750x8 and she is 122 lbs @ 5'8". She can Oly back squat 185x2.

If someone wants to be proud then great - they should be. Congrats. One persons accomplishments can't be skewed by anothers accomplishments.... ever. Be grateful for what you can do; who cares what the next guy is doing.

Someone else pointed out...typically people speak to actual lifts when discussing PR's; not to machine lifts. I can pin every machine at my gym at the bottom of the stack... most of my training partners can load the leg press to the max (36 plates) and then have someone sit on the sled.... Like a lot of things, it is learned. Once you figure it out you can press more than you think.
