I'm wondering what you guys think about the possibility of a 1000 pound bench. Can the tendons and ligaments support it? Are the muscles used big enough.. as with squats? Anyone know of any unofficial attempts that were even close?

Yeah muscle and fitness magazine recently had a guy in there that broke the record and it was 1008 lbs i think he did 5 lbs more than the previous guy

If you can bench 1000lbs grats.

But seriously, whats the use? Your arms will NOT be able to move naturally, I men scratching your back is out of the question...or picking out a weggie...hell your bicep would prolly break your jaw if you tried to pick your nose. :P

and these are "problems" for WHAT reason exactly? :P

A friend of mine benches over 800. I want to say its about 820-825, but I cant remember. Havent seen the dude in awhile since I moved!

I am in no way trying to discredit these huge lifts they are amazing feats of strength. However i sometimes wonder about the range of motion on these lifts. When powerlifters over 300lbs bench its like the bar moves 6 inches at most. Thats why i like to watch smaller powerlifters, well that and im a lower weight class lifter might bias me.
