Injured shoulder: how to train around it

New member
I injured my shoulder. The doctor said I don't need surgery but that I need to lay off of it. He recommended that I not train at all but said that if I do train I have to be smart. What are some tips and advice you can give me on training on an injured shoulder? I need help.

Usually the best approach is reducing or modifying movements that cause pain instead of stopping everything completely. Machines, neutral grips, lighter loads, slower tempo, and higher reps often help keep training going without irritating the shoulder more.

Biggest mistake I made personally was trying to “push through” sharp pain on pressing movements.
